مَلِكُ أَدُومَ (King of Edom)

بَنْيَامِينِيٌّ، ابْنُ قَيْسَ (A Benjamite, son of Kish)

أبناؤه (Sons of)

هَيْئَتُهُ الشَّخْصِيَّةُ (His personal appearance)

جُعِلَ مَلِكًا عَلَى إِسْرَائِيلَ (Made king of Israel)

يَسْكُنُ فِي جِبْعَةِ شَاوُلَ (Lives at Gibeah of Saul)

يهزم الفلسطينيين (Defeats the Philistines)

يَضْرِبُ الْعَمَالِيقَ (Strikes the Amalekites)

يُوَبِّخُهُ صَمُوئِيلُ لاغْتِصَابِهِ وَظَائِفَ الْكَهَنُوتِ (Is reproved by Samuel for usurping the priestly functions)

يُوَبِّخُهُ صَمُوئِيلُ لِعِصْيَانِهِ بِعَدَمِ إِبَادَةِ الْعَمَالِيقِ؛ وَيُتَنَبَّأُ بِفَقْدِ مَمْلَكَتِهِ (Samuel rebukes him for disobedience by not exterminating the Amalekites; the loss of his kingdom is foretold)

يُكَرِّسُ غَنَائِمَ الْحَرْبِ (Dedicates the spoils of war)

يُرْسِلُ رُسُلًا إِلَى يَسَّى طَالِبًا أَنْ يُرْسَلَ دَاوُدُ إِلَيْهِ عَازِفًا وَحَامِلَ سِلاَحٍ (Sends messengers to Jesse, asking that David be sent to him as a musician and an armor-bearer)

يَهْزِمُ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ بَعْدَمَا قَتَلَ دَاوُدُ جُلْيَاتَ (Defeats the Philistines after Goliath is killed by David)

غَيْرَتُهُ مِنْ دَاوُدَ؛ يُعْطِي ابْنَتَهُ مِيكَالَ لِدَاوُدَ زَوْجَةً؛ وَيُصْبِحُ عَدُوَّ دَاوُدَ (His jealousy of David; gives his daughter, Michal, to David to be his wife; becomes David’ s enemy)

يُحَاوِلُ قَتْلَ دَاوُدَ؛ وَيَتَشَفَّعُ يُونَاثَانُ فَيُثِيرُ غَضَبَ أَبِيهِ؛ وَوَفَاءُ دَاوُدَ لِيُونَاثَانَ؛ وَنَدَمُ شَاوُلَ الْمُؤَقَّتُ؛ وَيَتَنَبَّأُ (Tries to kill David; Jonathan intercedes and incurs his father’ s displeasure; David’ s loyalty to Jonathan; Saul’ s temporary remorse; prophesies)

يَسْمَعُ دُوَاغَ عَلَى أَخِيمَالِكَ، وَيَقْتُلُ الْكَاهِنَ وَأَهْلَ بَيْتِهِ. يُطَارِدُ دَاوُدَ إِلَى بَرِّيَّةِ زِيفَ؛ وَيَخُونُ الزِّيفِيُّونَ دَاوُدَ إِلَيْهِ (Hears Doeg against Ahimelech, and kills the priest and his family. pursues David to wilderness of Ziph; the Ziphites betray David to)

يُطَارِدُ دَاوُدَ إِلَى عَيْنِ جَدِي (Pursues David to En-gedi)

يَعْفُو دَاوُدُ عَنْ حَيَاتِهِ (His life spared by David)

نَدَمُ شَاوُلَ عَلَى خِيَانَتِهِ (Saul’ s contrition for his bad faith)

يُخَانُ دَاوُدُ إِلَيْهِ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى مِنَ الزِّيفِيِّينَ؛ وَيُطَارِدُ شَاوُلُ دَاوُدَ إِلَى تَلِّ حَخِيلَةَ؛ وَيَعْفُو دَاوُدُ عَنْ حَيَاتِهِ مَرَّةً أُخْرَى؛ وَاعْتِرَافُهُ وَبَرَكَتُهُ لِدَاوُدَ (David is again betrayed to, by the Ziphites; Saul pursues him to the hill of Hachilah; his life spared again by David; his confession, and his blessing upon David)

قَتَلَ الْجِبْعُونِيِّينَ؛ وَانْتُقِمَ لِجَرِيمَتِهِ بِمَوْتِ سَبْعَةٍ مِنْ بَنِيهِ (Kills the Gibeonites; crime avenged by the death of seven of his sons)

يَغْزُو الْفِلِسْطِينِيُّونَ مَمْلَكَتَهُ؛ وَيَطْلُبُ مَشُورَةَ صَاحِبَةِ الْجَانِّ فِي عَيْنِ دُورَ الَّتِي تَتَنَبَّأُ بِمَوْتِهِ (His kingdom invaded by Philistines; seeks counsel of the witch of En-dor, who foretells his own death)

يُهْزَمُ وَيُقْتَلُ مَعَ بَعْضِ بَنِيهِ (Is defeated, and is killed with some of his sons)

تُعَرَّضُ أَجْسَادُهُمْ فِي بَيْتِ شَانَ؛ وَيُنْقِذُهَا أَهْلُ يَابِيشَ وَيُحْرِقُونَهَا؛ وَتُدْفَنُ عِظَامُهُمْ تَحْتَ شَجَرَةٍ فِي يَابِيشَ (Their bodies exposed in Beth-shan; rescued by the people of Jabesh and burned; bones of, buried under a tree at Jabesh)

مَوْتُهُ دَيْنُونَةٌ بِسَبَبِ خَطَايَاهُ (His death is a judgment on account of his sins)
