Psalms 23:2

← Psalms 23:1 Psalms 23:2 (KJV) Psalms 23:3 →
A Psalm of David. The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

Strong's References
  • H1877 — דֶּשֶׁא (desheʼ, deh'-sheh): from דָּשָׁא (dâshâʼ) H1876; a sprout; by analogy, grass; (tender) grass, green, (tender) herb.
  • H4325 — מַיִם (mayim, mah'-yim): dual of a primitive noun (but used in a singular sense); water; figuratively, juice; by euphemism, urine, semen; [phrase] piss, wasting, water(-ing, (-course, -flood, -spring)).
  • H4496 — מְנוּחָה (mᵉnûwchâh, men-oo-khaw'): or מְנֻחָה (mᵉnuchâh); feminine of מָנוֹחַ (Mânôwach) H4495; repose or (adverbially) peacefully; figuratively, consolation (specifically, matrimony); hence (concretely) an abode; comfortable, ease, quiet, rest(-ing place), still.
  • H4999 — נָאָה (nâʼâh, naw-aw'): from נָאָה (nâʼâh) H4998; a home; figuratively, a pasture; habitation, house, pasture, pleasant place.
  • H5095 — נָהַל (nâhal, naw-hal'): a primitive root; properly, to run with asparkle, i.e. flow; hence (transitively), to conduct, and (by inference) to protect, sustain; carry, feed, guide, lead (gently, on).
  • H7257 — רָבַץ (râbats, raw-bats'): a primitive root; to crouch (on all four legs folded, like a recumbent animal); be implication, to recline, repose, brood, lurk, imbed; crouch (down), fall down, make a fold, lay, (cause to, make to) lie (down), make to rest, sit.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • H5921 — עַל (ʻal, al): properly, the same as עַל (ʻal) H5920 used as a preposition (in the singular or plural often with prefix, or as conjunction with a particle following); above, over, upon, or against (yet always in this last relation with a downward aspect) in a great variety of applications; above, according to(-ly), after, (as) against, among, and, [idiom] as, at, because of, beside (the rest of), between, beyond the time, [idiom] both and, by (reason of), [idiom] had the charge of, concerning for, in (that), (forth, out) of, (from) (off), (up-) on, over, than, through(-out), to, touching, [idiom] with.
