Psalms 22:2

← Psalms 22:1 Psalms 22:2 (KJV) Psalms 22:3 →
To the chief Musician upon Aijeleth Shahar, A Psalm of David. My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me? why art thou so far from helping me, and from the words of my roaring?
O my God, I cry in the daytime, but thou hearest not; and in the night season, and am not silent.
But thou art holy, O thou that inhabitest the praises of Israel.

Strong's References
  • H430 — אֱלֹהִים (ʼĕlôhîym, el-o-heem'): plural of אֱלוֹהַּ (ʼĕlôwahh) H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative; angels, [idiom] exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), [idiom] (very) great, judges, [idiom] mighty.
  • H1747 — דּוּמִיָּה (dûwmîyâh, doo-me-yaw'): from דָּמָה (dâmâh) H1820; stillness; adverbially, silently; abstractly quiet, trust; silence, silent, waiteth.
  • H3119 — יוֹמָם (yôwmâm, yo-mawm'): from יוֹם (yôwm) H3117; daily; daily, (by, in the) day(-time).
  • H3915 — לַיִל (layil, lah'-yil): or (Isaiah 21:11) לֵיל (lêyl); also לַיְלָה (laylâh); from the same as לוּל (lûwl) H3883; properly, a twist (away of the light), i.e. night; figuratively, adversity; (mid-)night (season).
  • H6030 — עָנָה (ʻânâh, aw-naw'): a primitive root; properly, to eye or (generally) to heed, i.e. pay attention; by implication, to respond; by extension to begin to speak; specifically to sing, shout, testify, announce; give account, afflict (by mistake for עָנָה (ʻânâh) H6031), (cause to, give) answer, bring low (by mistake for עָנָה (ʻânâh) H6031), cry, hear, Leannoth, lift up, say, [idiom] scholar, (give a) shout, sing (together by course), speak, testify, utter, (bear) witness. See also בֵּית עֲנוֹת (Bêyth ʻĂnôwth) H1042, בֵּית עֲנָת (Bêyth ʻĂnâth) H1043.
  • H7121 — קָרָא (qârâʼ, kaw-raw'): a primitive root (rather identical with קָרָא (qârâʼ) H7122 through the idea of accosting a person met); to call out to (i.e. properly, address by name, but used in a wide variety of applications); bewray (self), that are bidden, call (for, forth, self, upon), cry (unto), (be) famous, guest, invite, mention, (give) name, preach, (make) proclaim(-ation), pronounce, publish, read, renowned, say.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • H3808 — לֹא (lôʼ, lo): or לוֹא (lôwʼ); or לֹה (lôh); (Deuteronomy 3:11), a primitive particle; not (the simple or abs. negation); by implication, no; often used with other particles; [idiom] before, [phrase] or else, ere, [phrase] except, ig(-norant), much, less, nay, neither, never, no((-ne), -r, (-thing)), ([idiom] as though...,(can-), for) not (out of), of nought, otherwise, out of, [phrase] surely, [phrase] as truly as, [phrase] of a truth, [phrase] verily, for want, [phrase] whether, without.
