Isaiah 41:24

← Isaiah 41:23 Isaiah 41:24 (KJV) Isaiah 41:25 →
Shew the things that are to come hereafter, that we may know that ye are gods: yea, do good, or do evil, that we may be dismayed, and behold it together.
Behold, ye are of nothing, and your work of nought: an abomination is he that chooseth you.
I have raised up one from the north, and he shall come: from the rising of the sun shall he call upon my name: and he shall come upon princes as upon morter, and as the potter treadeth clay.

Strong's References
  • H369 — אַיִן (ʼayin, ah'-yin): as if from a primitive root meaning to be nothing or not exist; a non-entity; generally used as a negative particle; else, except, fail, (father-) less, be gone, in(-curable), neither, never, no (where), none, nor, (any, thing), not, nothing, to nought, past, un(-searchable), well-nigh, without. Compare אַיִן (ʼayin) H370.
  • H659 — אֵפַע (ʼêphaʻ, eh'-fah): from an unused root probably meaning to breathe; properly, a breath, i.e. nothing; of nought.
  • H977 — בָּחַר (bâchar, baw-khar'): a primitive root; properly, to try, i.e. (by implication) select; acceptable, appoint, choose (choice), excellent, join, be rather, require.
  • H6467 — פֹּעַל (pôʻal, po'-al): from פָּעַל (pâʻal) H6466; an act or work (concretely); act, deed, do, getting, maker, work.
  • H8441 — תּוֹעֵבַה (tôwʻêbah, to-ay-baw'): or תֹּעֵבַה (tôʻêbah); feminine active participle of תַּעָב (taʻâb) H8581; properly, something disgusting (morally), i.e. (as noun) an abhorrence; especially idolatry or (concretely) an idol; abominable (custom, thing), abomination.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • H859 — אַתָּה (ʼattâh, at-taw'): or (shortened); אַתָּ (ʼattâ); or אַת (ʼath); feminine (irregular) sometimes אַתִּי (ʼattîy); plural masculine אַתֶּם (ʼattem); feminine אַתֶּן (ʼatten); or אַתֵּנָה (ʼattênâh); or אַתֵּנָּה (ʼattênnâh); a primitive pronoun of the second person; thou and thee, or (plural) ye and you; thee, thou, ye, you.
  • H2005 — הֵן (hên, hane): a primitive particle; lo!; also (as expressing surprise) if; behold, if, lo, though.
