Isaiah 59:3

← Isaiah 59:2 Isaiah 59:3 (KJV) Isaiah 59:4 →
But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
For your hands are defiled with blood, and your fingers with iniquity; your lips have spoken lies, your tongue hath muttered perverseness.
None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

Strong's References
  • H676 — אֶצְבַּע (ʼetsbaʻ, ets-bah'): from the same as צֶבַע (tsebaʻ) H6648 (in the sense of grasping); something to sieze with, i.e. a finger; by analogy, a toe; finger, toe.
  • H1351 — גָּאַל (gâʼal, gaw-al'): a primitive root, (rather identified with גָּאַל (gâʼal) H1350, through the idea of freeing, i.e. repudiating); to soil or (figuratively) desecrate; defile, pollute, stain.
  • H1696 — דָבַר (dâbar, daw-bar'): a primitive root; perhaps properly, to arrange; but used figuratively (of words), to speak; rarely (in a destructive sense) to subdue; answer, appoint, bid, command, commune, declare, destroy, give, name, promise, pronounce, rehearse, say, speak, be spokesman, subdue, talk, teach, tell, think, use (entreaties), utter, [idiom] well, [idiom] work.
  • H1818 — דָּם (dâm, dawm): from דָּמַם (dâmam) H1826 (compare אָדַם (ʼâdam) H119); blood (as that which when shed causes death) of man or an animal; by analogy, the juice of the grape; figuratively (especially in the plural) bloodshed (i.e. drops of blood); blood(-y, -guiltiness, (-thirsty), [phrase] innocent.
  • H1897 — הָגָה (hâgâh, daw-gaw'): a primitive root (compare הָגִיג (hâgîyg) H1901); to murmur (in pleasure or anger); by implication, to ponder; imagine, meditate, mourn, mutter, roar, [idiom] sore, speak, study, talk, utter.
  • H3709 — כַּף (kaph, kaf): from כָּפַף (kâphaph) H3721; the hollow hand or palm (so of the paw of an animal, of the sole, and even of the bowl of a dish or sling, the handle of a bolt, the leaves of a palm-tree); figuratively, power; branch, [phrase] foot, hand((-ful), -dle, (-led)), hollow, middle, palm, paw, power, sole, spoon.
  • H3956 — לָשׁוֹן (lâshôwn, law-shone'): or לָשֹׁן (lâshôn); also (in plural) feminine לְשֹׁנָה (lᵉshônâh); from לָשַׁן (lâshan) H3960; the tongue (of man or animals), used literally (as the instrument of licking, eating, or speech), and figuratively (speech, an ingot, a fork of flame, a cove of water); [phrase] babbler, bay, [phrase] evil speaker, language, talker, tongue, wedge.
  • H5766 — עֶוֶל (ʻevel, eh'-vel): or עָוֶל (ʻâvel); and (feminine) עַוְלָה (ʻavlâh); or עוֹלָה (ʻôwlâh); or עֹלָה (ʻôlâh); from עֲוַל (ʻăval) H5765; (moral) evil; iniquity, perverseness, unjust(-ly), unrighteousness(-ly); wicked(-ness).
  • H5771 — עָוֺן (ʻâvôn, aw-vone'): or עָווֹן (ʻâvôwn); (2 Kings 7:9; Psalm 51:5 (אֲבַד (ʼăbad) H7)), from עָוָה (ʻâvâh) H5753; perversity, i.e. (moral) evil; fault, iniquity, mischeif, punishment (of iniquity), sin.
  • H8193 — שָׂפָה (sâphâh, saw-faw'): or (in dual and plural) שֶׂפֶת (sepheth); probably from סָפָה (çâphâh) H5595 or שָׁפָה (shâphâh) H8192 through the idea of termination (compare סוֹף (çôwph) H5490); the lip (as a natural boundary); by implication, language; by analogy, a margin (of a vessel, water, cloth, etc.); band, bank, binding, border, brim, brink, edge, language, lip, prating, (sea-)shore, side, speech, talk, (vain) words.
  • H8267 — שֶׁקֶר (sheqer, sheh'-ker): from שָׁקַר (shâqar) H8266; an untruth; by implication, a sham (often adverbial); without a cause, deceit(-ful), false(-hood, -ly), feignedly, liar, [phrase] lie, lying, vain (thing), wrongfully.
