Hebrews 12:14

← Hebrews 12:13 Hebrews 12:14 (KJV) Hebrews 12:15 →
And make straight paths for your feet, lest that which is lame be turned out of the way; but let it rather be healed.
Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:
Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled;

Strong's References
  • G38 — ἁγιασμός (hagiasmós, hag-ee-as-mos'): from ἁγιάζω (hagiázō) G37; properly, purification, i.e. (the state) purity; concretely (by Hebraism) a purifier; holiness, sanctification
  • G1377 — διώκω (diṓkō, dee-o'-ko): a prolonged (and causative) form of a primary verb δίω (díō) (to flee; compare the base of δειλός (deilós) G1169 and διάκονος (diákonos) G1249); to pursue (literally or figuratively); by implication, to persecute; ensue, follow (after), given to, (suffer) persecute(-ion), press forward
  • G1515 — εἰρήνη (eirḗnē, i-ray'-nay): probably from a primary verb εἴρω (eírō) (to join); peace (literally or figuratively); by implication, prosperity; one, peace, quietness, rest, + set at one again
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
  • G2962 — κύριος (kýrios, koo'-ree-os): from κῦρος (kŷros) (supremacy); supreme in authority, i.e. (as noun) controller; by implication, Master (as a respectful title); God, Lord, master, Sir
  • G3326 — μετά (metá, met-ah'): a primary preposition (often used adverbially); properly, denoting accompaniment; "amid" (local or causal); modified variously according to the case (genitive association, or accusative succession) with which it is joined; occupying an intermediate position between ἀπό (apó) G575 or ἐκ (ek) G1537 and εἰς (eis) G1519 or πρός (prós) G4314; less intimate than ἐν (en) G1722 and less close than σύν (sýn) G4862); after(-ward), X that he again, against, among, X and, + follow, hence, hereafter, in, of, (up-)on, + our, X and setting, since, (un-)to, + together, when, with (+ -out). Often used in composition, in substantially the same relations of participation or proximity, and transfer or sequence.
  • G3700 — ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai, op-tan'-om-ahee): a (middle voice) prolonged form of the primary (middle voice) ὄπτομαι (óptomai) op'-tom-ahee; which is used for it in certain tenses; and both as alternate of ὁράω (horáō) G3708; to gaze (i.e. with wide-open eyes, as at something remarkable; and thus differing from βλέπω (blépō) G991, which denotes simply voluntary observation; and from εἴδω (eídō) G1492, which expresses merely mechanical, passive or casual vision; while θεάομαι (theáomai) G2300, and still more emphatically its intensive θεωρέω (theōréō) G2334, signifies an earnest but more continued inspection; and σκοπέω (skopéō) G4648 a watching from a distance); appear, look, see, shew self
  • G3739 — ὅς (hós, hos): probably a primary word (or perhaps a form of the article ὁ (ho) G3588); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative) pronoun, who, which, what, that; one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which, who(-m, -se), etc. See also οὗ (hoû) G3757.
  • G3762 — οὐδείς (oudeís, oo-dice'): from οὐδέ (oudé) G3761 and εἷς (heîs) G1520; not even one (man, woman or thing), i.e. none, nobody, nothing; any (man), aught, man, neither any (thing), never (man), no (man), none (+ of these things), not (any, at all, -thing), nought
  • G3956 — πᾶς (pâs, pas): including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole; all (manner of, means), alway(-s), any (one), X daily, + ever, every (one, way), as many as, + no(-thing), X thoroughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever
  • G5565 — χωρίς (chōrís, kho-rece'): adverb from χώρα (chṓra) G5561; at a space, i.e. separately or apart from (often as preposition); beside, by itself, without

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom); the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc
