2 Kings 24:14

← 2 Kings 24:13 2 Kings 24:14 (KJV) 2 Kings 24:15 →
And he carried out thence all the treasures of the house of the LORD, and the treasures of the king's house, and cut in pieces all the vessels of gold which Solomon king of Israel had made in the temple of the LORD, as the LORD had said.
And he carried away all Jerusalem, and all the princes, and all the mighty men of valour, even ten thousand captives, and all the craftsmen and smiths: none remained, save the poorest sort of the people of the land.
And he carried away Jehoiachin to Babylon, and the king's mother, and the king's wives, and his officers, and the mighty of the land, those carried he into captivity from Jerusalem to Babylon.

Strong's References
  • H505 — אֶלֶף (ʼeleph, eh'-lef): prop, the same as אֶלֶף (ʼeleph) H504; hence (the ox's head being the first letter of the alphabet, and this eventually used as a numeral) a thousand; thousand.
  • H776 — אֶרֶץ (ʼerets, eh'-rets): from an unused root probably meaning to be firm; the earth (at large, or partitively a land); [idiom] common, country, earth, field, ground, land, [idiom] natins, way, [phrase] wilderness, world.
  • H1368 — גִּבּוֹר (gibbôwr, ghib-bore'): or גִּבֹּר (gibbôr); (shortened) intensive from the same as גֶּבֶר (geber) H1397; powerful; by implication, warrior, tyrant; champion, chief, [idiom] excel, giant, man, mighty (man, one), strong (man), valiant man.
  • H1540 — גָּלָה (gâlâh, gaw-law'): a primitive root; to denude (especially in a disgraceful sense); by implication, to exile (captives being usually stripped); figuratively, to reveal; [phrase] advertise, appear, bewray, bring, (carry, lead, go) captive (into captivity), depart, disclose, discover, exile, be gone, open, [idiom] plainly, publish, remove, reveal, [idiom] shamelessly, shew, [idiom] surely, tell, uncover.
  • H1803 — דַּלָּה (dallâh, dal-law'): from דָּלָה (dâlâh) H1802; properly, something dangling, i.e. a loose thread or hair; figuratively, indigent; hair, pining sickness, poor(-est sort).
  • H2108 — זוּלָה (zûwlâh, zoo-law'): from זוּל (zûwl) H2107; probably scattering, i.e. removal; used adverbially, except; beside, but, only, save.
  • H2428 — חַיִל (chayil, khah'-yil): from חוּל (chûwl) H2342; probably a force, whether of men, means or other resources; an army, wealth, virtue, valor, strength; able, activity, ([phrase]) army, band of men (soldiers), company, (great) forces, goods, host, might, power, riches, strength, strong, substance, train, ([phrase]) valiant(-ly), valour, virtuous(-ly), war, worthy(-ily).

  • H3389 — יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִם (Yᵉrûwshâlaim, yer-oo-shaw-lah'-im): rarely יְרוּשָׁלַיִם (Yᵉrûwshâlayim); a dual (in allusion to its two main hills (the true pointing, at least of the former reading, seems to be that of יְרוּשָׁלֵם (Yᵉrûwshâlêm) H3390)); probably from (the passive participle of) יָרָה (yârâh) H3384 and שָׁלַם (shâlam) H7999; founded peaceful; Jerushalaim or Jerushalem, the capital city of Palestine; Jerusalem.
  • H4525 — מַסְגֵּר (maçgêr, mas-gare'): from סָגַר (çâgar) H5462; a fastener, i.e. (of a person) a smith, (of a thing) a prison; prison, smith.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • H853 — אֵת (ʼêth, ayth): apparent contracted from אוֹת (ʼôwth) H226 in the demonstrative sense of entity; properly, self (but generally used to point out more definitely the object of a verb or preposition, even or namely); (as such unrepresented in English).
  • H1473 — גּוֹלָה (gôwlâh, go-law'): or (shortened) גֹּלָה (gôlâh); active participle feminine of גָּלָה (gâlâh) H1540; exile; concretely and collectively exiles; (carried away), captive(-ity), removing.
