← Romans 2:8 Romans 2:9 (KJV) Romans 2:10 →
But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,
Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also of the Gentile;

In compounds it retains essentially the same import, at, upon, etc. (literally or figuratively).
  • G2347 — θλῖψις (thlîpsis, thlip'-sis): from θλίβω (thlíbō) G2346; pressure (literally or figuratively); afflicted(-tion), anguish, burdened, persecution, tribulation, trouble
  • G2453 — Ἰουδαῖος (Ioudaîos, ee-oo-dah'-yos): from Ἰουδά (Ioudá) G2448 (in the sense of Ἰούδας (Ioúdas) G2455 as a country); Judæan, i.e. belonging to Jehudah; Jew(-ess), of Judæa
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
  • G2556 — κακός (kakós, kak-os'): apparently a primary word; worthless (intrinsically, such; whereas πονηρός (ponērós) G4190 properly refers to effects), i.e. (subjectively) depraved, or (objectively) injurious; bad, evil, harm, ill, noisome, wicked
  • G2716 — κατεργάζομαι (katergázomai, kat-er-gad'-zom-ahee): from κατά (katá) G2596 and ἐργάζομαι (ergázomai) G2038; to work fully, i.e. accomplish; by implication, to finish, fashion; cause, to (deed), perform, work (out)

  • G4730 — στενοχωρία (stenochōría, sten-okh-o-ree'-ah): from a compound of στενός (stenós) G4728 and χώρα (chṓra) G5561; narrowness of room, i.e. (figuratively) calamity; anguish, distress
  • G5037 — τέ (té, teh): a primary particle (enclitic) of connection or addition; both or also (properly, as correlation of καί (kaí) G2532); also, and, both, even, then, whether. Often used in composition, usually as the latter participle.
  • G5590 — ψυχή (psychḗ, psoo-khay'): from ψύχω (psýchō) G5594; breath, i.e. (by implication) spirit, abstractly or concretely (the animal sentient principle only; thus distinguished on the one hand from πνεῦμα (pneûma) G4151, which is the rational and immortal soul; and on the other from ζωή (zōḗ) G2222, which is mere vitality, even of plants: these terms thus exactly correspond respectively to the Hebrew H5315, H7307 and H2416); heart (+ -ily), life, mind, soul, + us, + you

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom); the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc
