Psalms 38:7

← Psalms 38:6 Psalms 38:7 (KJV) Psalms 38:8 →
I am troubled; I am bowed down greatly; I go mourning all the day long.
For my loins are filled with a loathsome disease: and there is no soundness in my flesh.
I am feeble and sore broken: I have roared by reason of the disquietness of my heart.

Strong's References
  • H1320 — בָּשָׂר (bâsâr, baw-sawr'): from בָּשַׂר (bâsar) H1319; flesh (from its freshness); by extension, body, person; also (by euphemistically) the pudenda of aman; body, (fat, lean) flesh(-ed), kin, (man-) kind, [phrase] nakedness, self, skin.
  • H3689 — כֶּסֶל (keçel, keh'-sel): from כָּסַל (kâçal) H3688; properly, fatness, i.e. by implication (literally) the loin (as the seat of the leaf fat) or (generally) the viscera; also (figuratively) silliness or (in a good sense) trust; confidence, flank, folly, hope, loin.
  • H4390 — מָלֵא (mâlêʼ, maw-lay'): or מָלָא (mâlâʼ); (Esther 7:5), a primitive root; to fill or (intransitively) be full of, in a wide application (literally and figuratively); accomplish, confirm, [phrase] consecrate, be at an end, be expired, be fenced, fill, fulfil, (be, become, [idiom] draw, give in, go) full(-ly, -ly set, tale), (over-) flow, fulness, furnish, gather (selves, together), presume, replenish, satisfy, set, space, take a (hand-) full, [phrase] have wholly.
  • H4974 — מְתֹם (mᵉthôm, meth-ohm'): from תָּמַם (tâmam) H8552; wholesomeness; also (adverb) completely; men (by reading מַת (math) H4962), soundness.
  • H7033 — קָלָה (qâlâh, kaw-law'): a primitive root (rather identical with קָלָה (qâlâh) H7034 through the idea of shrinkage by heat); to toast, i.e. scorch partially or slowly; dried, loathsome, parch, roast.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • H369 — אַיִן (ʼayin, ah'-yin): as if from a primitive root meaning to be nothing or not exist; a non-entity; generally used as a negative particle; else, except, fail, (father-) less, be gone, in(-curable), neither, never, no (where), none, nor, (any, thing), not, nothing, to nought, past, un(-searchable), well-nigh, without. Compare אַיִן (ʼayin) H370.
  • H3588 — כִּי (kîy, kee): a primitive particle (the full form of the prepositional prefix) indicating causal relations of all kinds, antecedent or consequent; (by implication) very widely used as a relative conjunction or adverb (as below); often largely modified by other particles annexed; and, + (forasmuch, inasmuch, where-) as, assured(-ly), + but, certainly, doubtless, + else, even, + except, for, how, (because, in, so, than) that, + nevertheless, now, rightly, seeing, since, surely, then, therefore, + (al-) though, + till, truly, + until, when, whether, while, whom, yea, yet.
