But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet:
And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry:

  • G5342 — φέρω (phérō, fer'-o): a primary verb (for which other, and apparently not cognate ones are used in certain tenses only; namely, οἴω (oíō) oy'-o; and ἐνέγκω (enénkō) en-eng'-ko); to "bear" or carry (in a very wide application, literally and figuratively, as follows); be, bear, bring (forth), carry, come, + let her drive, be driven, endure, go on, lay, lead, move, reach, rushing, uphold

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

Discussion / Insights [edit]

  • Jesus is here!!! After the prodigal son comes back to the Father in broken repentance asking for relationship the Father sacrifices the fatted calf, making peace with the prodigal. This is pointing forward to the Father sacrificing Jesus (The Prince of Peace and Lamb of God from Isaiah 9:6 and John 1:29) on the cross atoning for our sins, clothing us in His righteousness, to reconcile believers with the Father! Note the Father never did this for his entitled, self-righteous brother who, with his friends, is a picture of the Pharisees (see pattern in Luke 14:11, Luke 14:24, Luke 15:7, Luke 15:10, Luke 15:29) who, although he was invited, Luke 15:28 says "he was angry, and would not go in." — Admin
