Isaiah 65:15

← Isaiah 65:14 Isaiah 65:15 (KJV) Isaiah 65:16 →
Behold, my servants shall sing for joy of heart, but ye shall cry for sorrow of heart, and shall howl for vexation of spirit.
And ye shall leave your name for a curse unto my chosen: for the Lord GOD shall slay thee, and call his servants by another name:
That he who blesseth himself in the earth shall bless himself in the God of truth; and he that sweareth in the earth shall swear by the God of truth; because the former troubles are forgotten, and because they are hid from mine eyes.

Strong's References
  • H136 — אֲדֹנָי (ʼĂdônây, ad-o-noy'): an emphatic form of אָדוֹן (ʼâdôwn) H113; the Lord (used as a proper name of God only); (my) Lord.
  • H312 — אַחֵר (ʼachêr, akh-air'): from אָחַר (ʼâchar) H309; properly, hinder; generally, next, other, etc.; (an-) other man, following, next, strange.
  • H972 — בָּחִיר (bâchîyr, baw-kheer'): from בָּחַר (bâchar) H977; select; choose, chosen one, elect.
  • H3069 — יְהֹוִה (Yᵉhôvih, yeh-ho-vee'): a variation of יְהֹוָה (Yᵉhôvâh) H3068 (used after אֲדֹנָי (ʼĂdônây) H136, and pronounced by Jews as אֱלֹהִים (ʼĕlôhîym) H430, in order to prevent the repetition of the same sound, since they elsewhere pronounce יְהֹוָה (Yᵉhôvâh) H3068 as אֲדֹנָי (ʼĂdônây) H136); YHWH; God.
  • H3240 — יָנַח (yânach, yaw-nakh'): a primitive root; to deposit; by implication, to allow to stay; bestow, cast down, lay (down, up), leave (off), let alone (remain), pacify, place, put, set (down), suffer, withdraw, withhold. (The Hiphil forms with the dagesh are here referred to, in accordance with the older grammarians; but if any distinction of the kind is to be made, these should rather be referred to נוּחַ (nûwach) H5117, and the others here.)
  • H4191 — מוּת (mûwth, mooth): a primitive root; to die (literally or figuratively); causatively, to kill; [idiom] at all, [idiom] crying, (be) dead (body, man, one), (put to, worthy of) death, destroy(-er), (cause to, be like to, must) die, kill, necro(-mancer), [idiom] must needs, slay, [idiom] surely, [idiom] very suddenly, [idiom] in (no) wise.
  • H5650 — עֶבֶד (ʻebed, eh'-bed): from עָבַד (ʻâbad) H5647; a servant; [idiom] bondage, bondman, (bond-) servant, (man-) servant.
  • H7121 — קָרָא (qârâʼ, kaw-raw'): a primitive root (rather identical with קָרָא (qârâʼ) H7122 through the idea of accosting a person met); to call out to (i.e. properly, address by name, but used in a wide variety of applications); bewray (self), that are bidden, call (for, forth, self, upon), cry (unto), (be) famous, guest, invite, mention, (give) name, preach, (make) proclaim(-ation), pronounce, publish, read, renowned, say.
  • H7621 — שְׁבוּעָה (shᵉbûwʻâh, sheb-oo-aw'): feminine passive participle of שָׁבַע (shâbaʻ) H7650; properly, something sworn, i.e. an oath; curse, oath, [idiom] sworn.
  • H8034 — שֵׁם (shêm, shame): a primitive word (perhaps rather from שׂוּם (sûwm) H7760 through the idea of definite and conspicuous position; compare שָׁמַיִם (shâmayim) H8064); an appellation, as amark or memorial of individuality; by implication honor, authority, character; [phrase] base, (in-) fame(-ous), named(-d), renown, report.
