2 Corinthians 12:2

← 2 Corinthians 12:1 2 Corinthians 12:2 (KJV) 2 Corinthians 12:3 →
It is not expedient for me doubtless to glory. I will come to visions and revelations of the Lord.
I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven.
And I knew such a man, (whether in the body, or out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;)

Strong's References
  • G444 — ἄνθρωπος (ánthrōpos, anth'-ro-pos): from ἀνήρ (anḗr) G435 and ὤψ (ṓps) (the countenance; from ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700); man-faced, i.e. a human being; certain, man
  • G726 — ἁρπάζω (harpázō, har-pad'-zo): from a derivative of αἱρέομαι (hairéomai) G138; to seize (in various applications); catch (away, up), pluck, pull, take (by force)
  • G1180 — δεκατέσσαρες (dekatéssares, dek-at-es'-sar-es): from δέκα (déka) G1176 and τέσσαρες (téssares) G5064; ten and four, i.e. fourteen; fourteen
  • G1492 — εἴδω (eídō, i'-do): a primary verb; used only in certain past tenses, the others being borrowed from the equivalent ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700 and ὁράω (horáō) G3708; properly, to see (literally or figuratively); by implication, (in the perfect tense only) to know; be aware, behold, X can (+ not tell), consider, (have) know(-ledge), look (on), perceive, see, be sure, tell, understand, wish, wot. Compare ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700.
  • G1535 — εἴτε (eíte, i'-teh): from εἰ (ei) G1487 and τέ (té) G5037; if too; if, or, whether
  • G1622 — ἐκτός (ektós, ek-tos'): from ἐκ (ek) G1537; the exterior; figuratively (as a preposition) aside from, besides; but, except(-ed), other than, out of, outside, unless, without
  • G1722 — ἐν (en, en): a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest (intermediate between εἰς (eis) G1519 and ἐκ (ek) G1537); "in," at, (up-)on, by, etc.; about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-)by (+ all means), for (… sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-)in(-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-)on, (open-)ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, (speedi-)ly, X that, X there(-in, -on), through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), under, when, where(-with), while, with(-in). Often used in compounds, with substantially the same import; rarely with verbs of motion, and then not to indicate direction, except (elliptically) by a separate (and different) preposition.
  • G2094 — ἔτος (étos, et'-os): apparently a primary word; a year; year
  • G2193 — ἕως (héōs, heh'-oce): of uncertain affinity; a conjunction, preposition and adverb of continuance, until (of time and place); even (until, unto), (as) far (as), how long, (un-)til(-l), (hither-, un-, up) to, while(-s)
  • G2316 — θεός (theós, theh'-os): of uncertain affinity; a deity, especially (with ὁ (ho) G3588) the supreme Divinity; figuratively, a magistrate; by Hebraism, very; X exceeding, God, god(-ly, -ward)
  • G3756 — οὐ (ou, oo): a primary word; the absolute negative (compare μή (mḗ) G3361) adverb; no or not; + long, nay, neither, never, no (X man), none, (can-)not, + nothing, + special, un(-worthy), when, + without, + yet but. See also οὐ μή (ou mḗ) G3364, μῆκος (mēkos) G3372.
  • G3772 — οὐρανός (ouranós, oo-ran-os'): perhaps from the same as ὄρος (óros) G3735 (through the idea of elevation); the sky; by extension, heaven (as the abode of God); by implication, happiness, power, eternity; specially, the Gospel (Christianity); air, heaven(-ly), sky
  • G4253 — πρό (pró, pro): a primary preposition; "fore", i.e. in front of, prior (figuratively, superior) to; above, ago, before, or ever. In the comparative, it retains the same significations.
  • G4983 — σῶμα (sōma, so'-mah): from σώζω (sṓzō) G4982; the body (as a sound whole), used in a very wide application, literally or figuratively; bodily, body, slave
  • G5108 — τοιοῦτος (toioûtos, toy-oo'-tos): (including the other inflections); from τοί (toí) G5104 and οὗτος (hoûtos) G3778; truly this, i.e. of this sort (to denote character or individuality); like, such (an one)
  • G5154 — τρίτος (trítos, tree'-tos): ordinal from τρεῖς (treîs) G5140; third; neuter (as noun) a third part, or (as adverb) a (or the) third time, thirdly; third(-ly)
  • G5547 — Χριστός (Christós, khris-tos'): from χρίω (chríō) G5548; anointed, i.e. the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus; Christ
