But all their works they do for to be seen of men: they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge the borders of their garments,
And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues,
And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi.

Strong's References
  • G1173 — δεῖπνον (deîpnon, dipe'-non): from the same as δαπάνη (dapánē) G1160; dinner, i.e. the chief meal (usually in the evening); feast, supper
  • G1722 — ἐν (en, en): a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest (intermediate between εἰς (eis) G1519 and ἐκ (ek) G1537); "in," at, (up-)on, by, etc.; about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-)by (+ all means), for (… sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-)in(-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-)on, (open-)ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, (speedi-)ly, X that, X there(-in, -on), through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), under, when, where(-with), while, with(-in). Often used in compounds, with substantially the same import; rarely with verbs of motion, and then not to indicate direction, except (elliptically) by a separate (and different) preposition.
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
  • G4410 — πρωτοκαθεδρία (prōtokathedría, pro-tok-ath-ed-ree'-ah): from πρῶτος (prōtos) G4413 and καθέδρα (kathédra) G2515; a sitting first (in the front row), i.e. preeminence in council; chief (highest, uppermost) seat
  • G4411 — πρωτοκλισία (prōtoklisía, pro-tok-lis-ee'-ah): from πρῶτος (prōtos) G4413 and κλισία (klisía) G2828; a reclining first (in the place of honor) at the dinner-bed, i.e. preeminence at meals; chief (highest, uppermost) room
  • G4864 — συναγωγή (synagōgḗ, soon-ag-o-gay'): from (the reduplicated form of) συνάγω (synágō) G4863; an assemblage of persons; specially, a Jewish "synagogue" (the meeting or the place); by analogy, a Christian church; assembly, congregation, synagogue
  • G5037 — τέ (té, teh): a primary particle (enclitic) of connection or addition; both or also (properly, as correlation of καί (kaí) G2532); also, and, both, even, then, whether. Often used in composition, usually as the latter participle.
  • G5368 — φιλέω (philéō, fil-eh'-o): from φίλος (phílos) G5384; to be a friend to (fond of (an individual or an object)), i.e. have affection for (denoting personal attachment, as a matter of sentiment or feeling; while ἀγαπάω (agapáō) G25 is wider, embracing especially the judgment and the deliberate assent of the will as a matter of principle, duty and propriety: the two thus stand related very much as θέλω (thélō) G2309 and βούλομαι (boúlomai) G1014, or as θυμός (thymós) G2372 and νοῦς (noûs) G3563 respectively; the former being chiefly of the heart and the latter of the head); specially, to kiss (as a mark of tenderness); kiss, love

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom); the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc
