Job 6:5
| ← Job 6:4 | Job 6:5 (KJV) | Job 6:6 → |
|---|---|---|
For the arrows of the Almighty are within me, the poison whereof drinketh up my spirit: the terrors of God do set themselves in array against me.
|
Doth the wild ass bray when he hath grass? or loweth the ox over his fodder?

Can that which is unsavoury be eaten without salt? or is there any taste in the white of an egg?

Strong's References
- H1098 — בְּלִיל (bᵉlîyl, bel-eel'): from בָּלַל (bâlal) H1101; mixed, i.e. (specifically) feed (for cattle); corn, fodder, provender.
- H1600 — גָּעָה (gâʻâh, gaw-aw'): a primitive root; to bellow (as cattle); low.
- H1877 — דֶּשֶׁא (desheʼ, deh'-sheh): from דָּשָׁא (dâshâʼ) H1876; a sprout; by analogy, grass; (tender) grass, green, (tender) herb.
- H5101 — נָהַק (nâhaq, naw-hak'): a primitive root; to bray (as an ass), scream (from hunger); bray.
- H6501 — פֶּרֶא (pereʼ, peh'-reh): or פֶּרֶה (pereh); (Jeremiah 2:24), from פָּרָא (pârâʼ) H6500 in the secondary sense of running wild; the onager; wild (ass).
- H7794 — שׁוֹר (shôwr, shore): from שׁוּר (shûwr) H7788; a bullock (as a traveller); bull(-ock), cow, ox, wall (by mistake for שׁוּר (shûwr) H7791).
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- H518 — אִם (ʼim, eem): a primitive particle; used very widely as demonstrative, lo!; interrogative, whether?; or conditional, if, although; also Oh that!, when; hence, as a negative, not; (and, can-, doubtless, if, that) (not), [phrase] but, either, [phrase] except, [phrase] more(-over if, than), neither, nevertheless, nor, oh that, or, [phrase] save (only, -ing), seeing, since, sith, [phrase] surely (no more, none, not), though, [phrase] of a truth, [phrase] unless, [phrase] verily, when, whereas, whether, while, [phrase] yet.
- H5921 — עַל (ʻal, al): properly, the same as עַל (ʻal) H5920 used as a preposition (in the singular or plural often with prefix, or as conjunction with a particle following); above, over, upon, or against (yet always in this last relation with a downward aspect) in a great variety of applications; above, according to(-ly), after, (as) against, among, and, [idiom] as, at, because of, beside (the rest of), between, beyond the time, [idiom] both and, by (reason of), [idiom] had the charge of, concerning for, in (that), (forth, out) of, (from) (off), (up-) on, over, than, through(-out), to, touching, [idiom] with.
