Isaiah 42:23
| ← Isaiah 42:22 | Isaiah 42:23 (KJV) | Isaiah 42:24 → |
|---|---|---|
But this is a people robbed and spoiled; they are all of them snared in holes, and they are hid in prison houses: they are for a prey, and none delivereth; for a spoil, and none saith, Restore.
|
Who among you will give ear to this? who will hearken and hear for the time to come?
|
Who gave Jacob for a spoil, and Israel to the robbers? did not the LORD, he against whom we have sinned? for they would not walk in his ways, neither were they obedient unto his law.

- H268 — אָחוֹר (ʼâchôwr, aw-khore'): or (shortened) אָחֹר (ʼâchôr) ; from אֲחִירַע (ʼĂchîyraʻ) H299; the hinder part; hence (adverb) behind, backward; also (as facing north) the West; after(-ward), back (part, -side, -ward), hereafter, (be-) hind(-er part), time to come, without.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- H2063 — זֹאת (zôʼth, zothe'): irregular feminine of זֶה (zeh) H2089; this (often used adverb); hereby (-in, -with), it, likewise, the one (other, same), she, so (much), such (deed), that, therefore, these, this (thing), thus.
- H4310 — מִי (mîy, me): an interrogative pronoun of persons, as מָה (mâh) H4100 is of things; who? (occasionally, by a peculiar idiom, of things); also (indefinitely) whoever; often used in oblique construction with prefix or suffix; any (man), [idiom] he, [idiom] him, [phrase] O that! what, which, who(-m, -se, -soever), [phrase] would to God.
