1 Corinthians 4:11

← 1 Corinthians 4:10 1 Corinthians 4:11 (KJV) 1 Corinthians 4:12 →
We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honourable, but we are despised.
Even unto this present hour we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwellingplace;
And labour, working with our own hands: being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it:

Strong's References
  • G737 — ἄρτι (árti, ar'-tee): adverb from a derivative of αἴρω (aírō) G142 (compare ἄρτος (ártos) G740) through the idea of suspension; just now; this day (hour), hence(-forth), here(-after), hither(-to), (even) now, (this) present
  • G790 — ἀστατέω (astatéō, as-tat-eh'-o): from Α (A) G1 (as a negative particle) and a derivative of ἵστημι (hístēmi) G2476; to be non-stationary, i.e. (figuratively) homeless; have no certain dwelling-place
  • G891 — ἄχρι (áchri, akh'-ree): akin to ἄκρον (ákron) G206 (through the idea of a terminus); (of time) until or (of place) up to; as far as, for, in(-to), till, (even, un-)to, until, while. Compare μέχρι (méchri) G3360.
  • G1130 — γυμνητεύω (gymnēteúō, goom-nayt-yoo'-o): from a derivative of γυμνός (gymnós) G1131; to strip, i.e. (reflexively) go poorly clad; be naked
  • G1372 — διψάω (dipsáō, dip-sah'-o): from a variation of δίψος (dípsos) G1373; to thirst for (literally or figuratively); (be, be a-)thirst(-y)
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
  • G2852 — κολαφίζω (kolaphízō, kol-af-id'-zo): from a derivative of the base of κολάζω (kolázō) G2849; to rap with the fist; buffet
  • G3983 — πεινάω (peináō, pi-nah'-o): from the same as πένης (pénēs) G3993 (through the idea of pinching toil; "pine"); to famish (absolutely or comparatively); figuratively, to crave; be an hungered
  • G5610 — ὥρα (hṓra, ho'-rah): apparently a primary word; an "hour" (literally or figuratively); day, hour, instant, season, X short, (even-)tide, (high) time

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom); the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc
