And not only so, but we also joy in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the atonement.
|
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

- G264 — ἁμαρτάνω (hamartánō, ham-ar-tan'-o): perhaps from Α (A) G1 (as a negative particle) and the base of μέρος (méros) G3313; properly, to miss the mark (and so not share in the prize), i.e. (figuratively) to err, especially (morally) to sin; for your faults, offend, sin, trespass
- G266 — ἁμαρτία (hamartía, ham-ar-tee'-ah): from ἁμαρτάνω (hamartánō) G264; a sin (properly abstract); offence, sin(-ful)
- G444 — ἄνθρωπος (ánthrōpos, anth'-ro-pos): from ἀνήρ (anḗr) G435 and ὤψ (ṓps) (the countenance; from ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700); man-faced, i.e. a human being; certain, man
- G1223 — διά (diá, dee-ah'): a primary preposition denoting the channel of an act; through (in very wide applications, local, causal, or occasional); after, always, among, at, to avoid, because of (that), briefly, by, for (cause) … fore, from, in, by occasion of, of, by reason of, for sake, that, thereby, therefore, X though, through(-out), to, wherefore, with (-in). In composition it retains the same general importance.
- G1330 — διέρχομαι (diérchomai, dee-er'-khom-ahee): from διά (diá) G1223 and ἔρχομαι (érchomai) G2064; to traverse (literally); come, depart, go (about, abroad, everywhere, over, through, throughout), pass (by, over, through, throughout), pierce through, travel, walk through
- G1519 — εἰς (eis, ice): a primary preposition; to or into (indicating the point reached or entered), of place, time, or (figuratively) purpose (result, etc.); also in adverbial phrases; (abundant-)ly, against, among, as, at, (back-)ward, before, by, concerning, + continual, + far more exceeding, for (intent, purpose), fore, + forth, in (among, at, unto, -so much that, -to), to the intent that, + of one mind, + never, of, (up-)on, + perish, + set at one again, (so) that, therefore(-unto), throughout, til, to (be, the end, -ward), (here-)until(-to), …ward, (where-)fore, with. Often used in composition with the same general import, but only with verbs (etc.) expressing motion (literally or figuratively).
- G1520 — εἷς (heîs, hice): a primary numeral; one; a(-n, -ny, certain), + abundantly, man, one (another), only, other, some. See also εἷς καθ’ εἷς (heîs kath’ heîs) G1527, μηδείς (mēdeís) G3367, μία (mía) G3391, οὐδείς (oudeís) G3762.
- G1525 — εἰσέρχομαι (eisérchomai, ice-er'-khom-ahee): from εἰς (eis) G1519 and ἔρχομαι (érchomai) G2064; to enter (literally or figuratively); X arise, come (in, into), enter in(-to), go in (through)
- G1909 — ἐπί (epí, ep-ee'): a primary preposition; properly, meaning superimposition (of time, place, order, etc.), as a relation of distribution (with the genitive case), i.e. over, upon, etc.; of rest (with the dative case) at, on, etc.; of direction (with the accusative case) towards, upon, etc.; about (the times), above, after, against, among, as long as (touching), at, beside, X have charge of, (be-, (where-))fore, in (a place, as much as, the time of, -to), (because) of, (up-)on (behalf of), over, (by, for) the space of, through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), with. In compounds it retains essentially the same import, at, upon, etc. (literally or figuratively).
- G2288 — θάνατος (thánatos, than'-at-os): from θνήσκω (thnḗskō) G2348; (properly, an adjective used as a noun) death (literally or figuratively); X deadly, (be…) death

- G2889 — κόσμος (kósmos, kos'-mos): probably from the base of κομίζω (komízō) G2865; orderly arrangement, i.e. decoration; by implication, the world (in a wide or narrow sense, including its inhabitants, literally or figuratively (morally)); adorning, world
- G3739 — ὅς (hós, hos): probably a primary word (or perhaps a form of the article ὁ (ho) G3588); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative) pronoun, who, which, what, that; one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which, who(-m, -se), etc. See also οὗ (hoû) G3757.

- G3956 — πᾶς (pâs, pas): including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole; all (manner of, means), alway(-s), any (one), X daily, + ever, every (one, way), as many as, + no(-thing), X thoroughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever
