← 1 Corinthians 15:20 1 Corinthians 15:21 (KJV) 1 Corinthians 15:22 →
But now is Christ risen from the dead, and become the firstfruits of them that slept.
For since by man came death, by man came also the resurrection of the dead.

  • G444 — ἄνθρωπος (ánthrōpos, anth'-ro-pos): from ἀνήρ (anḗr) G435 and ὤψ (ṓps) (the countenance; from ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700); man-faced, i.e. a human being; certain, man
  • G1063 — γάρ (gár, gar): a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles); and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet
  • G1223 — διά (diá, dee-ah'): a primary preposition denoting the channel of an act; through (in very wide applications, local, causal, or occasional); after, always, among, at, to avoid, because of (that), briefly, by, for (cause) … fore, from, in, by occasion of, of, by reason of, for sake, that, thereby, therefore, X though, through(-out), to, wherefore, with (-in). In composition it retains the same general importance.
  • G1894 — ἐπειδή (epeidḗ, ep-i-day'): from ἐπεί (epeí) G1893 and δή (dḗ) G1211; since now, i.e. (of time) when, or (of cause) whereas; after that, because, for (that, -asmuch as), seeing, since
  • G2288 — θάνατος (thánatos, than'-at-os): from θνήσκω (thnḗskō) G2348; (properly, an adjective used as a noun) death (literally or figuratively); X deadly, (be…) death
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
  • G3498 — νεκρός (nekrós, nek-ros'): from an apparently primary νέκυς (nékys) (a corpse); dead (literally or figuratively; also as noun); dead

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom); the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc
