Psalms 90:5

← Psalms 90:4 Psalms 90:5 (KJV) Psalms 90:6 →
For a thousand years in thy sight are but as yesterday when it is past, and as a watch in the night.
Thou carriest them away as with a flood; they are as a sleep: in the morning they are like grass which groweth up.
In the morning it flourisheth, and groweth up; in the evening it is cut down, and withereth.

Strong's References
  • H1242 — בֹּקֶר (bôqer, bo'-ker): from בָּקַר (bâqar) H1239; properly, dawn (as the break of day); generally, morning; ([phrase]) day, early, morning, morrow.
  • H2229 — זָרַם (zâram, zaw-ram'): a primitive root; to gush (as water); carry away as with a flood, pour out.
  • H2498 — חָלַף (châlaph, khaw-laf'): a primitive root; properly, to slide by, i.e. (by implication) to hasten away, pass on, spring up, pierce or change; abolish, alter, change, cut off, go on forward, grow up, be over, pass (away, on, through), renew, sprout, strike through.
  • H2682 — חָצִיר (châtsîyr, khaw-tseer'): perhaps originally the same as חָצִיר (châtsîyr) H2681, from the greenness of a courtyard; grass; also a leek (collectively); grass, hay, herb, leek.
  • H8142 — שֵׁנָה (shênâh, shay-naw'): or שֵׁנָא (shênâʼ); (Psalm 127:2), from יָשֵׁן (yâshên) H3462; sleep; sleep.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • H1961 — הָיָה (hâyâh, haw-yaw): a primitive root (compare הָוָא (hâvâʼ) H1933); to exist, i.e. be or become, come to pass (always emphatic, and not a mere copula or auxiliary); beacon, [idiom] altogether, be(-come), accomplished, committed, like), break, cause, come (to pass), do, faint, fall, [phrase] follow, happen, [idiom] have, last, pertain, quit (one-) self, require, [idiom] use.
