Psalms 55:11

← Psalms 55:10 Psalms 55:11 (KJV) Psalms 55:12 →
Day and night they go about it upon the walls thereof: mischief also and sorrow are in the midst of it.
Wickedness is in the midst thereof: deceit and guile depart not from her streets.
For it was not an enemy that reproached me; then I could have borne it: neither was it he that hated me that did magnify himself against me; then I would have hid myself from him:

Strong's References
  • H1942 — הַוָּה (havvâh, hav-vaw'): from הָוָא (hâvâʼ) H1933 (in the sense of eagerly coveting and rushing upon; by implication, of falling); desire; also ruin; calamity, iniquity, mischief, mischievous (thing), naughtiness, naughty, noisome, perverse thing, substance, very wickedness.
  • H4185 — מוּשׁ (mûwsh, moosh): a primitive root (perhaps rather the same as מוּשׁ (mûwsh) H4184 through the idea of receding by contact); to withdraw (both literally and figuratively, whether intransitive or transitive); cease, depart, go back, remove, take away.
  • H4820 — מִרְמָה (mirmâh, meer-maw'): from רָמָה (râmâh) H7411 in the sense of deceiving; fraud; craft, deceit(-ful, -fully), false, feigned, guile, subtilly, treachery.
  • H7130 — קֶרֶב (qereb, keh'-reb): from קָרַב (qârab) H7126; properly, the nearest part, i.e. the center, whether literal, figurative or adverbial (especially with preposition); [idiom] among, [idiom] before, bowels, [idiom] unto charge, [phrase] eat (up), [idiom] heart, [idiom] him, [idiom] in, inward ([idiom] -ly, part, -s, thought), midst, [phrase] out of, purtenance, [idiom] therein, [idiom] through, [idiom] within self.
  • H7339 — רְחֹב (rᵉchôb, rekh-obe'): or רְחוֹב (rᵉchôwb); from רָחַב (râchab) H7337; a width, i.e. (concretely) avenue or area; broad place (way), street. See also בֵּית רְחוֹב (Bêyth Rᵉchôwb) H1050.
  • H8496 — תֹּךְ (tôk, toke): or תּוֹך (tôwk); (Psalm 72:14), from the same base as תָּוֶךְ (tâvek) H8432 (in the sense of cutting to pieces); oppression; deceit, fraud.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • H3808 — לֹא (lôʼ, lo): or לוֹא (lôwʼ); or לֹה (lôh); (Deuteronomy 3:11), a primitive particle; not (the simple or abs. negation); by implication, no; often used with other particles; [idiom] before, [phrase] or else, ere, [phrase] except, ig(-norant), much, less, nay, neither, never, no((-ne), -r, (-thing)), ([idiom] as though...,(can-), for) not (out of), of nought, otherwise, out of, [phrase] surely, [phrase] as truly as, [phrase] of a truth, [phrase] verily, for want, [phrase] whether, without.
