Proverbs 30:5

← Proverbs 30:4 Proverbs 30:5 (KJV) Proverbs 30:6 →
Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists? who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth? what is his name, and what is his son's name, if thou canst tell?
Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him.
Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

Strong's References
  • H433 — אֱלוֹהַּ (ʼĕlôwahh, el-o'-ah): rarely (shortened) אֱלֹהַּ (ʼĕlôahh); probably prolonged (emphatic) from אֵל (ʼêl) H410; a deity or the Deity; God, god. See אֱלֹהִים (ʼĕlôhîym) H430.
  • H565 — אִמְרָה (ʼimrâh, im-raw'): or אֶמְרָה (ʼemrâh); feminine of אֵמֶר (ʼêmer) H561, and meaning the same; something said; commandment, speech, word.
  • H2620 — חָסָה (châçâh, khaw-saw'): a primitive root; (compare בָּטַח (bâṭach) H982); to flee for protection; figuratively, to confide in; have hope, make refuge, (put) trust.
  • H4043 — מָגֵן (mâgên, maw-gane'): also (in plural) feminine מְגִנָּה (mᵉginnâh); from גָּנַן (gânan) H1598; a shield (i.e. the small one or buckler); figuratively, a protector; also the scaly hide of the crocodile; [idiom] armed, buckler, defence, ruler, [phrase] scale, shield.
  • H6884 — צָרַף (tsâraph, tsaw-raf'): a primitive root; to fuse (metal), i.e. refine (literally or figuratively); cast, (re-) fine(-er), founder, goldsmith, melt, pure, purge away, try.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • H1931 — הוּא (hûwʼ, hoo): of which the feminine (beyond the Pentateuch) is הִיא (hîyʼ); a primitive word, the third person pronoun singular; he (she or it); only expressed when emphatic or without a verb; also (intensively) self, or (especially with the article) the same; sometimes (as demonstrative) this or that; occasionally (instead of copula) as or are; he, as for her, him(-self), it, the same, she (herself), such, that (...it), these, they, this, those, which (is), who.
  • H3605 — כֹּל (kôl, kole): or (Jeremiah 33:8) כּוֹל (kôwl); from כָּלַל (kâlal) H3634; properly, the whole; hence, all, any or every (in the singular only, but often in a plural sense); (in) all (manner, (ye)), altogether, any (manner), enough, every (one, place, thing), howsoever, as many as, (no-) thing, ought, whatsoever, (the) whole, whoso(-ever).
