Judges 5:22
| ← Judges 5:21 | Judges 5:22 (KJV) | Judges 5:23 → |
|---|---|---|
The river of Kishon swept them away, that ancient river, the river Kishon. O my soul, thou hast trodden down strength.
|
Then were the horsehoofs broken by the means of the pransings, the pransings of their mighty ones.
|
Curse ye Meroz, said the angel of the LORD, curse ye bitterly the inhabitants thereof; because they came not to the help of the LORD, to the help of the LORD against the mighty.

Strong's References
- H47 — אַבִּיר (ʼabbîyr, ab-beer'): for אָבִיר (ʼâbîyr) H46; mighty (spoken of God); angel, bull, chiefest, mighty (one), stout(-hearted), strong (one), valiant.
- H1726 — דַּהֲהַר (dahăhar, dah-hah-har'): by reduplication from דָּהַר (dâhar) H1725; a gallop; pransing.
- H1986 — הָלַם (hâlam, haw-lam'): a primitive root; to strike down; by implication, to hammer, stamp, conquer, disband; beat (down), break (down), overcome, smite (with the hammer).
- H5483 — סוּס (çûwç, soos): or סֻס (çuç); from an unused root meaning to skip (properly, for joy); a horse (as leaping); also a swallow (from its rapid flight); crane, horse (-back, -hoof). Compare פָּרָשׁ (pârâsh) H6571.
- H6119 — עָקֵב (ʻâqêb, aw-kabe'): or (feminine) עִקְּבָה (ʻiqqᵉbâh); from עָקַב (ʻâqab) H6117; a heel (as protuberant); hence, a track; figuratively, the rear (of an army); heel, (horse-) hoof, last, lier in wait (by mistake for עָקֵב (ʻâqêb) H6120), (foot-) step.
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- H227 — אָז (ʼâz, awz): a demonstrative adverb; at that time or place; also as a conjunction, therefore; beginning, for, from, hitherto, now, of old, once, since, then, at which time, yet.
