John 4:21

← John 4:20 John 4:21 (KJV) [words of Jesus] John 4:22 [words of Jesus] →
Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.

Strong's References
  • G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): from the particle αὖ (aû) (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ (aḗr) G109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons; her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ (hautoû) G848.
  • G1135 — γυνή (gynḗ, goo-nay'): probably from the base of γίνομαι (gínomai) G1096; a woman; specially, a wife; wife, woman
  • G1722 — ἐν (en, en): a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest (intermediate between εἰς (eis) G1519 and ἐκ (ek) G1537); "in," at, (up-)on, by, etc.; about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-)by (+ all means), for (… sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-)in(-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-)on, (open-)ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, (speedi-)ly, X that, X there(-in, -on), through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), under, when, where(-with), while, with(-in). Often used in compounds, with substantially the same import; rarely with verbs of motion, and then not to indicate direction, except (elliptically) by a separate (and different) preposition.
  • G2064 — ἔρχομαι (érchomai, er'-khom-ahee): middle voice of a primary verb (used only in the present and imperfect tenses, the others being supplied by a kindred (middle voice) ἐλεύθομαι (eleúthomai) el-yoo'-thom-ahee, or (active) ἔλθω (élthō) el'-tho, which do not otherwise occur); to come or go (in a great variety of applications, literally and figuratively); accompany, appear, bring, come, enter, fall out, go, grow, X light, X next, pass, resort, be set
  • G2414 — Ἱεροσόλυμα (Hierosólyma, hee-er-os-ol'-oo-mah): of Hebrew origin (H3389); Hierosolyma (i.e. Jerushalaim), the capitol of Palestine; Jerusalem. Compare Ἱερουσαλήμ (Hierousalḗm) G2419.
  • G2424 — Ἰησοῦς (Iēsoûs, ee-ay-sooce'): of Hebrew origin (H3091); Jesus (i.e. Jehoshua), the name of our Lord and two (three) other Israelites; Jesus
  • G3004 — λέγω (légō, leg'-o): a primary verb; properly, to "lay" forth, i.e. (figuratively) relate (in words (usually of systematic or set discourse; whereas ἔπω (épō) G2036 and φημί (phēmí) G5346 generally refer to an individual expression or speech respectively; while ῥέω (rhéō) G4483 is properly to break silence merely, and λαλέω (laléō) G2980 means an extended or random harangue)); by implication, to mean; ask, bid, boast, call, describe, give out, name, put forth, say(-ing, on), shew, speak, tell, utter
  • G3427 — μοί (moí, moy): the simpler form of ἐμοί (emoí) G1698; to me; I, me, mine, my
  • G3735 — ὄρος (óros, or'-os): probably from an obsolete ὄρω (órō) (to rise or "rear"; perhaps akin to αἴρω (aírō) G142; compare ὄρνις (órnis) G3733); a mountain (as lifting itself above the plain); hill, mount(-ain)
  • G3753 — ὅτε (hóte, hot'-eh): from ὅς (hós) G3739 and τέ (té) G5037; at which (thing) too, i.e. when; after (that), as soon as, that, when, while

  • G3962 — πατήρ (patḗr, pat-ayr'): apparently a primary word; a "father" (literally or figuratively, near or more remote); father, parent
  • G4100 — πιστεύω (pisteúō, pist-yoo'-o): from πίστις (pístis) G4102; to have faith (in, upon, or with respect to, a person or thing), i.e. credit; by implication, to entrust (especially one's spiritual well-being to Christ); believe(-r), commit (to trust), put in trust with
  • G4352 — προσκυνέω (proskynéō, pros-koo-neh'-o): from πρός (prós) G4314 and a probable derivative of κύων (kýōn) G2965 (meaning to kiss, like a dog licking his master's hand); to fawn or crouch to, i.e. (literally or figuratively) prostrate oneself in homage (do reverence to, adore); worship
  • G5129 — τούτῳ (toútōi, too'-to): dative case singular masculine or neuter of οὗτος (hoûtos) G3778; to (in, with or by) this (person or thing); here(-by, -in), him, one, the same, there(-in), this
