John 19:34

← John 19:33 John 19:34 (KJV) John 19:35 →
But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs:
But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water.
And he that saw it bare record, and his record is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye might believe.

Strong's References
  • G129 — αἷμα (haîma, hah'-ee-mah): of uncertain derivation; blood, literally (of men or animals), figuratively (the juice of grapes) or specially (the atoning blood of Christ); by implication, bloodshed, also kindred; blood
  • G235 — ἀλλά (allá, al-lah'): neuter plural of ἄλλος (állos) G243; properly, other things, i.e. (adverbially) contrariwise (in many relations); and, but (even), howbeit, indeed, nay, nevertheless, no, notwithstanding, save, therefore, yea, yet
  • G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): from the particle αὖ (aû) (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ (aḗr) G109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons; her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ (hautoû) G848.
  • G1520 — εἷς (heîs, hice): a primary numeral; one; a(-n, -ny, certain), + abundantly, man, one (another), only, other, some. See also εἷς καθ’ εἷς (heîs kath’ heîs) G1527, μηδείς (mēdeís) G3367, μία (mía) G3391, οὐδείς (oudeís) G3762.
  • G1831 — ἐξέρχομαι (exérchomai, ex-er'-khom-ahee): from ἐκ (ek) G1537 and ἔρχομαι (érchomai) G2064; to issue (literally or figuratively); come (forth, out), depart (out of), escape, get out, go (abroad, away, forth, out, thence), proceed (forth), spread abroad
  • G2117 — εὐθύς (euthýs, yoo-thoos'): perhaps from εὖ (eû) G2095 and τίθημι (títhēmi) G5087; straight, i.e. (literally) level, or (figuratively) true; adverbially (of time) at once; anon, by and by, forthwith, immediately, straightway
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
  • G3057 — λόγχη (lónchē, long'-khay): perhaps a primary word; a "lance"; spear
  • G3572 — νύσσω (nýssō, noos'-so): apparently a primary word; to prick ("nudge"); pierce
  • G4125 — πλευρά (pleurá, plyoo-rah'): of uncertain affinity; a rib, i.e. (by extension) side; side
  • G4757 — στρατιώτης (stratiṓtēs, strat-ee-o'-tace): from a presumed derivative of the same as στρατιά (stratiá) G4756; a camper-out, i.e. a (common) warrior (literally or figuratively); soldier
  • G5204 — ὕδωρ (hýdōr, hoo'-dore): from the base of ὑετός (hyetós) G5205; water (as if rainy) literally or figuratively; water

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom); the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc
