Therefore they could not believe, because that Esaias said again,
|
He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart; that they should not see with their eyes, nor understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.
|
These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.

- G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): from the particle αὖ (aû) (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ (aḗr) G109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons; her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ (hautoû) G848.
- G1492 — εἴδω (eídō, i'-do): a primary verb; used only in certain past tenses, the others being borrowed from the equivalent ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700 and ὁράω (horáō) G3708; properly, to see (literally or figuratively); by implication, (in the perfect tense only) to know; be aware, behold, X can (+ not tell), consider, (have) know(-ledge), look (on), perceive, see, be sure, tell, understand, wish, wot. Compare ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700.
- G1994 — ἐπιστρέφω (epistréphō, ep-ee-stref'-o): from ἐπί (epí) G1909 and στρέφω (stréphō) G4762; to revert (literally, figuratively or morally); come (go) again, convert, (re-)turn (about, again)
- G2390 — ἰάομαι (iáomai, ee-ah'-om-ahee): middle voice of apparently a primary verb; to cure (literally or figuratively); heal, make whole
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
- G2588 — καρδία (kardía, kar-dee'-ah): prolonged from a primary κάρ (kár) (Latin cor, "heart"); the heart, i.e. (figuratively) the thoughts or feelings (mind); also (by analogy) the middle; (+ broken-)heart(-ed)
- G3363 — ἵνα μή (hína mḗ, hin'-ah may): i.e. ἵνα (hína) G2443 and μή (mḗ) G3361; in order (or so) that not; albeit not, lest, that, no(-t, (-thing))
- G3539 — νοιέω (noiéō, noy-eh'-o): from νοῦς (noûs) G3563; to exercise the mind (observe), i.e. (figuratively) to comprehend, heed; consider, perceive, think, understand
- G3788 — ὀφθαλμός (ophthalmós, of-thal-mos'): from ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700; the eye (literally or figuratively); by implication, vision; figuratively, envy (from the jealous side-glance); eye, sight
- G4456 — πωρόω (pōróō, po-ro'-o): apparently from πῶρος (pōros) (a kind of stone); to petrify, i.e. (figuratively) to indurate (render stupid or callous); blind, harden
- G5186 — τυφλόω (typhlóō, toof-lo'-o): from τυφλός (typhlós) G5185; to make blind, i.e. (figuratively) to obscure; blind
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G2443 — ἵνα (hína, hin'-ah): probably from the same as the former part of ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438 (through the demonstrative idea; compare ὁ (ho) G3588); in order that (denoting the purpose or the result); albeit, because, to the intent (that), lest, so as, (so) that, (for) to. Compare ἵνα μή (hína mḗ) G3363.
- G3361 — μή (mḗ, may): a primary particle of qualified negation (whereas οὐ (ou) G3756 expresses an absolute denial); (adverb) not, (conjunction) lest; also (as an interrogative implying a negative answer (whereas οὐ (ou) G3756 expects an affirmative one)) whether; any but (that), X forbear, + God forbid, + lack, lest, neither, never, no (X wise in), none, nor, (can-)not, nothing, that not, un(-taken), without. Often used in compounds in substantially the same relations. See also ἐὰν μή (eàn mḗ) G3362, ἵνα μή (hína mḗ) G3363, οὐ μή (ou mḗ) G3364, μῆκος (mēkos) G3372, μηκύνω (mēkýnō) G3373, μήν (mḗn) G3375, μὴ οὐκ (mḕ ouk) G3378.
- G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom); the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc
