Hebrews 1:4
| ← Hebrews 1:3 | Hebrews 1:4 (KJV) | Hebrews 1:5 → |
|---|---|---|
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;
|
Being made so much better than the angels, as he hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.
|
For unto which of the angels said he at any time, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee? And again, I will be to him a Father, and he shall be to me a Son?

- G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): from the particle αὖ (aû) (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ (aḗr) G109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons; her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. - G3686 — ὄνομα (ónoma, on'-om-ah): from a presumed derivative of the base of γινώσκω (ginṓskō) G1097 (compare ὀνίνημι (onínēmi) G3685); a "name" (literally or figuratively) (authority, character); called, (+ sur-)name(-d)
- G3745 — ὅσος (hósos, hos'-os): by reduplication from ὅς (hós) G3739; as (much, great, long, etc.) as; all (that), as (long, many, much) (as), how great (many, much), (in-)asmuch as, so many as, that (ever), the more, those things, what (great, -soever), wheresoever, wherewithsoever, which, X while, who(-soever)
