Acts 25:8

← Acts 25:7 Acts 25:8 (KJV) Acts 25:9 →
And when he was come, the Jews which came down from Jerusalem stood round about, and laid many and grievous complaints against Paul, which they could not prove.
While he answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Caesar, have I offended any thing at all.
But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem, and there be judged of these things before me?

Strong's References
  • G264 — ἁμαρτάνω (hamartánō, ham-ar-tan'-o): perhaps from Α (A) G1 (as a negative particle) and the base of μέρος (méros) G3313; properly, to miss the mark (and so not share in the prize), i.e. (figuratively) to err, especially (morally) to sin; for your faults, offend, sin, trespass
  • G626 — ἀπολογέομαι (apologéomai, ap-ol-og-eh'-om-ahee): middle voice from a compound of ἀπό (apó) G575 and λόγος (lógos) G3056; to give an account (legal plea) of oneself, i.e. exculpate (self); answer (for self), make defence, excuse (self), speak for self
  • G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): from the particle αὖ (aû) (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ (aḗr) G109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons; her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ (hautoû) G848.
  • G1519 — εἰς (eis, ice): a primary preposition; to or into (indicating the point reached or entered), of place, time, or (figuratively) purpose (result, etc.); also in adverbial phrases; (abundant-)ly, against, among, as, at, (back-)ward, before, by, concerning, + continual, + far more exceeding, for (intent, purpose), fore, + forth, in (among, at, unto, -so much that, -to), to the intent that, + of one mind, + never, of, (up-)on, + perish, + set at one again, (so) that, therefore(-unto), throughout, til, to (be, the end, -ward), (here-)until(-to), …ward, (where-)fore, with. Often used in composition with the same general import, but only with verbs (etc.) expressing motion (literally or figuratively).
  • G2411 — ἱερόν (hierón, hee-er-on'): neuter of ἱερός (hierós) G2413; a sacred place, i.e. the entire precincts (whereas ναός (naós) G3485 denotes the central sanctuary itself) of the Temple (at Jerusalem or elsewhere); temple
  • G2453 — Ἰουδαῖος (Ioudaîos, ee-oo-dah'-yos): from Ἰουδά (Ioudá) G2448 (in the sense of Ἰούδας (Ioúdas) G2455 as a country); Judæan, i.e. belonging to Jehudah; Jew(-ess), of Judæa
  • G2541 — Καῖσαρ (Kaîsar, kah'-ee-sar): of Latin origin; Cæsar, a title of the Roman emperor; Cæsar
  • G3551 — νόμος (nómos, nom'-os): from a primary νέμω (némō) (to parcel out, especially food or grazing to animals); law (through the idea of prescriptive usage), genitive case (regulation), specially, (of Moses (including the volume); also of the Gospel), or figuratively (a principle); law
  • G3754 — ὅτι (hóti, hot'-ee): neuter of ὅστις (hóstis) G3748 as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because; as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why
  • G3777 — οὔτε (oúte, oo'-teh): from οὐ (ou) G3756 and τέ (té) G5037; not too, i.e. neither or nor; by analogy, not even; neither, none, nor (yet), (no, yet) not, nothing
  • G5100 — τὶς (tìs, tis): an enclitic indefinite pronoun; some or any person or object; a (kind of), any (man, thing, thing at all), certain (thing), divers, he (every) man, one (X thing), ought, + partly, some (man, -body, - thing, -what), (+ that no-)thing, what(-soever), X wherewith, whom(-soever), whose(-soever)

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom); the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc
