Romans 11:19

← Romans 11:18 Romans 11:19 (KJV) Romans 11:20 →

Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in.
Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:

Strong's References
  • G1461 — ἐγκεντρίζω (enkentrízō, eng-ken-trid'-zo): from ἐν (en) G1722 and a derivative of κέντρον (kéntron) G2759; to prick in, i.e. ingraft; graff in(-to)
  • G1473 — ἐγώ (egṓ, eg-o'): a primary pronoun of the first person; I (only expressed when emphatic); I, me. For the other cases and the plural see ἐμέ (emé) G1691, ἐμοί (emoí) G1698, ἐμοῦ (emoû) G1700, ἡμᾶς (hēmâs) G2248, ἡμεῖς (hēmeîs) G2249, ἡμῖν (hēmîn) G2254, ἡμῶν (hēmōn) G2257, etc.
  • G1575 — ἐκκλάω (ekkláō, ek-klah'-o): from ἐκ (ek) G1537 and κλάω (kláō) G2806; to exscind; break off
  • G2046 — ἐρέω (eréō, er-eh'-o): probably a fuller form of ῥέω (rhéō) G4483; an alternate for ἔπω (épō) G2036 in certain tenses; to utter, i.e. speak or say; call, say, speak (of), tell
  • G2443 — ἵνα (hína, hin'-ah): probably from the same as the former part of ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438 (through the demonstrative idea; compare ὁ (ho) G3588); in order that (denoting the purpose or the result); albeit, because, to the intent (that), lest, so as, (so) that, (for) to. Compare ἵνα μή (hína mḗ) G3363.
  • G2798 — κλάδος (kládos, klad'-os): from κλάω (kláō) G2806; a twig or bough (as if broken off); branch
  • G3767 — οὖν (oûn, oon): apparently a primary word; (adverbially) certainly, or (conjunctionally) accordingly; and (so, truly), but, now (then), so (likewise then), then, therefore, verily, wherefore

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom); the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc
