|---|---|---|
And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:
|
And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.
|
And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

Often used in connection or composition with other particles, especially as in εἴγε (eíge) G1489, εἰ δὲ μή(γε) (ei dè mḗ(ge)) G1490, εἰ καί (ei kaí) G1499, εἰ μή (ei mḗ) G1508, εἰ μή τι (ei mḗ ti) G1509, εἴ περ (eí per) G1512, εἴ πως (eí pōs) G1513, εἴ τις (eí tis) G1536, ἐκ (ek) G1537. See also ἐάν (eán) G1437.
- G1832 — ἔξεστι (éxesti, ex'-es-tee): third person singular present indicative of a compound of ἐκ (ek) G1537 and εἰμί (eimí) G1510; so also ἐξόν (exón) ex-on' neuter present participle of the same (with or without some form of εἰμί (eimí) G1510 expressed); impersonally, it is right (through the figurative idea of being out in public); be lawful, let, X may(-est)
- G1905 — ἐπερωτάω (eperōtáō, ep-er-o-tah'-o): from ἐπί (epí) G1909 and ἐρωτάω (erōtáō) G2065; to ask for, i.e. inquire, seek; ask (after, questions), demand, desire, question

- G2443 — ἵνα (hína, hin'-ah): probably from the same as the former part of ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438 (through the demonstrative idea; compare ὁ (ho) G3588); in order that (denoting the purpose or the result); albeit, because, to the intent (that), lest, so as, (so) that, (for) to.
