← Leviticus 20:26 Leviticus 20:27 (KJV) Leviticus 21:1 →
And ye shall be holy unto me: for I the LORD am holy, and have severed you from other people, that ye should be mine.
A man also or woman that hath a familiar spirit, or that is a wizard, shall surely be put to death: they shall stone them with stones: their blood shall be upon them.
And the LORD said unto Moses, Speak unto the priests the sons of Aaron, and say unto them, There shall none be defiled for the dead among his people:

Strong's References
  • H68 — אֶבֶן (ʼeben, eh'-ben): from the root of בָּנָה (bânâh) H1129 through the meaning to build; a stone; [phrase] carbuncle, [phrase] mason, [phrase] plummet, (chalk-, hail-, head-, sling-) stone(-ny), (divers) weight(-s).
  • H178 — אוֹב (ʼôwb, obe): from the same as אָב (ʼâb) H1 (apparently through the idea of prattling a father's name); properly, a mumble, i.e. a water skin (from its hollow sound); hence a necromancer (ventriloquist, as from a jar); bottle, familiar spirit.
  • H376 — אִישׁ (ʼîysh, eesh): contracted for אֱנוֹשׁ (ʼĕnôwsh) H582 (or perhaps rather from an unused root meaning to be extant); a man as an individual or a male person; often used as an adjunct to a more definite term (and in such cases frequently not expressed in translation); also, another, any (man), a certain, [phrase] champion, consent, each, every (one), fellow, (foot-, husband-) man, (good-, great, mighty) man, he, high (degree), him (that is), husband, man(-kind), [phrase] none, one, people, person, [phrase] steward, what (man) soever, whoso(-ever), worthy. Compare אִשָּׁה (ʼishshâh) H802.
  • H802 — אִשָּׁה (ʼishshâh, ish-shaw'): feminine of אִישׁ (ʼîysh) H376 or אֱנוֹשׁ (ʼĕnôwsh) H582; irregular plural, נָשִׁים (nâshîym);(used in the same wide sense as אֱנוֹשׁ (ʼĕnôwsh) H582); a woman; (adulter) ess, each, every, female, [idiom] many, [phrase] none, one, [phrase] together, wife, woman. Often unexpressed in English.
  • H1818 — דָּם (dâm, dawm): from דָּמַם (dâmam) H1826 (compare אָדַם (ʼâdam) H119); blood (as that which when shed causes death) of man or an animal; by analogy, the juice of the grape; figuratively (especially in the plural) bloodshed (i.e. drops of blood); blood(-y, -guiltiness, (-thirsty), [phrase] innocent.
  • H3049 — יִדְּעֹנִי (yiddᵉʻônîy, yid-deh-o-nee'): from יָדַע (yâdaʻ) H3045; properly, a knowing one; specifically, a conjurer; (by impl) a ghost; wizard.
  • H3588 — כִּי (kîy, kee): a primitive particle (the full form of the prepositional prefix) indicating causal relations of all kinds, antecedent or consequent; (by implication) very widely used as a relative conjunction or adverb (as below); often largely modified by other particles annexed; and, + (forasmuch, inasmuch, where-) as, assured(-ly), + but, certainly, doubtless, + else, even, + except, for, how, (because, in, so, than) that, + nevertheless, now, rightly, seeing, since, surely, then, therefore, + (al-) though, + till, truly, + until, when, whether, while, whom, yea, yet.
  • H4191 — מוּת (mûwth, mooth): a primitive root; to die (literally or figuratively); causatively, to kill; [idiom] at all, [idiom] crying, (be) dead (body, man, one), (put to, worthy of) death, destroy(-er), (cause to, be like to, must) die, kill, necro(-mancer), [idiom] must needs, slay, [idiom] surely, [idiom] very suddenly, [idiom] in (no) wise.
  • H7275 — רָגַם (râgam, raw-gam'): a primitive root (compare רֶגֶב (regeb) H7263, רוּעַ (rûwaʻ) H7321, רָקַם (râqam) H7551); to cast together (stones), i.e. to lapidate; [idiom] certainly, stone.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • H176 — אוֹ (ʼôw, o): presumed to be the 'constructive' or genitival form of אַו (ʼav) ; short for אַוָּה (ʼavvâh) H185; desire (and so probably in Proverbs 31:4); hence (by way of alternative) or, also if; also, and, either, if, at the least, [idiom] nor, or, otherwise, then, whether.
  • H853 — אֵת (ʼêth, ayth): apparent contracted from אוֹת (ʼôwth) H226 in the demonstrative sense of entity; properly, self (but generally used to point out more definitely the object of a verb or preposition, even or namely); (as such unrepresented in English).
  • H1961 — הָיָה (hâyâh, haw-yaw): a primitive root (compare הָוָא (hâvâʼ) H1933); to exist, i.e. be or become, come to pass (always emphatic, and not a mere copula or auxiliary); beacon, [idiom] altogether, be(-come), accomplished, committed, like), break, cause, come (to pass), do, faint, fall, [phrase] follow, happen, [idiom] have, last, pertain, quit (one-) self, require, [idiom] use.
