|---|---|---|
Ye shall keep my sabbaths, and reverence my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
|
Regard not them that have familiar spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.
|
Thou shalt rise up before the hoary head, and honour the face of the old man, and fear thy God: I am the LORD.

Strong's References
- H178 — אוֹב (ʼôwb, obe): from the same as אָב (ʼâb) H1 (apparently through the idea of prattling a father's name); properly, a mumble, i.e. a water skin (from its hollow sound); hence a necromancer (ventriloquist, as from a jar); bottle, familiar spirit.
- H430 — אֱלֹהִים (ʼĕlôhîym, el-o-heem'): plural of אֱלוֹהַּ (ʼĕlôwahh) H433; gods in the ordinary sense; but specifically used (in the plural thus, especially with the article) of the supreme God; occasionally applied by way of deference to magistrates; and sometimes as a superlative; angels, [idiom] exceeding, God (gods) (-dess, -ly), [idiom] (very) great, judges, [idiom] mighty.
- H1245 — בָּקַשׁ (bâqash, baw-kash'): a primitive root; to search out (by any method, specifically in worship or prayer); by implication, to strive after; ask, beg, beseech, desire, enquire, get, make inquisition, procure, (make) request, require, seek (for).
- H2930 — טָמֵא (ṭâmêʼ, taw-may'): a primitive root; to be foul, especially in a ceremial or moral sense (contaminated); defile (self), pollute (self), be (make, make self, pronounce) unclean, [idiom] utterly.
- H3049 — יִדְּעֹנִי (yiddᵉʻônîy, yid-deh-o-nee'): from יָדַע (yâdaʻ) H3045; properly, a knowing one; specifically, a conjurer; (by impl) a ghost; wizard.
- H3068 — יְהֹוָה (Yᵉhôvâh, yeh-ho-vaw'): from הָיָה (hâyâh) H1961; (the) self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God; Jehovah, the Lord. Compare יָהּ (Yâhh) H3050, יְהֹוִה (Yᵉhôvih) H3069.
- H6437 — פָּנָה (pânâh, paw-naw'): a primitive root; to turn; by implication, to face, i.e. appear, look, etc.; appear, at (even-) tide, behold, cast out, come on, [idiom] corner, dawning, empty, go away, lie, look, mark, pass away, prepare, regard, (have) respect (to), (re-) turn (aside, away, back, face, self), [idiom] right (early).
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- H408 — אַל (ʼal, al): a negative particle (akin to לֹא (lôʼ) H3808); not (the qualified negation, used as a deprecative); once (Job 24:25) as a noun, nothing; nay, neither, [phrase] never, no, nor, not, nothing (worth), rather than.
- H413 — אֵל (ʼêl, ale): (but only used in the shortened constructive form אֶל (ʼel) ); a primitive particle; properly, denoting motion towards, but occasionally used of a quiescent position, i.e.; near, with or among; often in general, to; about, according to, after, against, among, as for, at, because(-fore, -side), both...and, by, concerning, for, from, [idiom] hath, in(-to), near, (out) of, over, through, to(-ward), under, unto, upon, whether, with(-in).
- H589 — אֲנִי (ʼănîy, an-ee'): contracted from אָנֹכִי (ʼânôkîy) H595; I; I, (as for) me, mine, myself, we, [idiom] which, [idiom] who.
