Isaiah 64:10

← Isaiah 64:9 Isaiah 64:10 (KJV) Isaiah 64:11 →
Be not wroth very sore, O LORD, neither remember iniquity for ever: behold, see, we beseech thee, we are all thy people.
Thy holy cities are a wilderness, Zion is a wilderness, Jerusalem a desolation.
Our holy and our beautiful house, where our fathers praised thee, is burned up with fire: and all our pleasant things are laid waste.

Strong's References
  • H3389 — יְרוּשָׁלַ͏ִם (Yᵉrûwshâlaim, yer-oo-shaw-lah'-im): rarely יְרוּשָׁלַיִם (Yᵉrûwshâlayim); a dual (in allusion to its two main hills (the true pointing, at least of the former reading, seems to be that of יְרוּשָׁלֵם (Yᵉrûwshâlêm) H3390)); probably from (the passive participle of) יָרָה (yârâh) H3384 and שָׁלַם (shâlam) H7999; founded peaceful; Jerushalaim or Jerushalem, the capital city of Palestine; Jerusalem.
  • H4057 — מִדְבָּר (midbâr, mid-bawr'): from דָבַר (dâbar) H1696 in the sense of driving; a pasture (i.e. open field, whither cattle are driven); by implication, a desert; also speech (including its organs); desert, south, speech, wilderness.
  • H5892 — עִיר (ʻîyr, eer): or (in the plural) עָר (ʻâr); or עָיַר (ʻâyar); (Judges 10:4), from עוּר (ʻûwr) H5782; a city (a place guarded by waking or a watch) in the widest sense (even of a mere encampment or post); Ai (from margin), city, court (from margin), town.
  • H6726 — צִיּוֹן (Tsîyôwn, tsee-yone'): the same (regularly) as צִיּוּן (tsîyûwn) H6725; Tsijon (as a permanent capital), a mountain of Jerusalem; Zion.
  • H6944 — קֹדֶשׁ (qôdesh, ko'-desh): from קָדַשׁ (qâdash) H6942; a sacred place or thing; rarely abstract, sanctity; consecrated (thing), dedicated (thing), hallowed (thing), holiness, ([idiom] most) holy ([idiom] day, portion, thing), saint, sanctuary.
  • H8077 — שְׁמָמָה (shᵉmâmâh, shem-aw-maw'): or שִׁמָמָה (shimâmâh); feminine of שָׁמֵם (shâmêm) H8076; devastation; figuratively, astonishment; (laid, [idiom] most) desolate(-ion), waste.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • H1961 — הָיָה (hâyâh, haw-yaw): a primitive root (compare הָוָא (hâvâʼ) H1933); to exist, i.e. be or become, come to pass (always emphatic, and not a mere copula or auxiliary); beacon, [idiom] altogether, be(-come), accomplished, committed, like), break, cause, come (to pass), do, faint, fall, [phrase] follow, happen, [idiom] have, last, pertain, quit (one-) self, require, [idiom] use.
