← 1 Kings 4:31 1 Kings 4:32 (KJV) 1 Kings 4:33 →
For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all nations round about.
And he spake three thousand proverbs: and his songs were a thousand and five.
And he spake of trees, from the cedar tree that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall: he spake also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

Strong's References
  • H505 — אֶלֶף (ʼeleph, eh'-lef): prop, the same as אֶלֶף (ʼeleph) H504; hence (the ox's head being the first letter of the alphabet, and this eventually used as a numeral) a thousand; thousand.
  • H1696 — דָבַר (dâbar, daw-bar'): a primitive root; perhaps properly, to arrange; but used figuratively (of words), to speak; rarely (in a destructive sense) to subdue; answer, appoint, bid, command, commune, declare, destroy, give, name, promise, pronounce, rehearse, say, speak, be spokesman, subdue, talk, teach, tell, think, use (entreaties), utter, [idiom] well, [idiom] work.
  • H2568 — חָמֵשׁ (châmêsh, khaw-maysh'): masculine חֲמִשָּׁה (chămishshâh); a primitive numeral; five; fif(-teen), fifth, five ([idiom] apiece).
  • H4912 — מָשָׁל (mâshâl, maw-shawl'): apparently from מָשַׁל (mâshal) H4910 in some original sense of superiority in mental action; properly, a pithy maxim, usually of metaphorical nature; hence, a simile (as an adage, poem, discourse); byword, like, parable, proverb.
  • H7892 — שִׁיר (shîyr, sheer): or feminine שִׁירָה (shîyrâh); from שִׁיר (shîyr) H7891; a song; abstractly, singing; musical(-ick), [idiom] sing(-er, -ing), song.
  • H7969 — שָׁלוֹשׁ (shâlôwsh, shaw-loshe'): or שָׁלֹשׁ (shâlôsh); masculine שְׁלוֹשָׁה (shᵉlôwshâh); or שְׁלֹשָׁה (shᵉlôshâh); a primitive number; three; occasionally (ordinal) third, or (multiple) thrice; [phrase] fork, [phrase] often(-times), third, thir(-teen, -teenth), three, [phrase] thrice. Compare שָׁלִישׁ (shâlîysh) H7991.

The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:

  • H1961 — הָיָה (hâyâh, haw-yaw): a primitive root (compare הָוָא (hâvâʼ) H1933); to exist, i.e. be or become, come to pass (always emphatic, and not a mere copula or auxiliary); beacon, [idiom] altogether, be(-come), accomplished, committed, like), break, cause, come (to pass), do, faint, fall, [phrase] follow, happen, [idiom] have, last, pertain, quit (one-) self, require, [idiom] use.
