1 Corinthians 15:39
| ← 1 Corinthians 15:38 | 1 Corinthians 15:39 (KJV) | 1 Corinthians 15:40 → |
|---|---|---|
But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body.
|
All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds.
|
There are also celestial bodies, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another.

Strong's References
- G235 — ἀλλά (allá, al-lah'): neuter plural of ἄλλος (állos) G243; properly, other things, i.e. (adverbially) contrariwise (in many relations); and, but (even), howbeit, indeed, nay, nevertheless, no, notwithstanding, save, therefore, yea, yet
- G243 — ἄλλος (állos, al'-los): a primary word; "else," i.e. different (in many applications); more, one (another), (an-, some an-)other(-s, -wise)
- G444 — ἄνθρωπος (ánthrōpos, anth'-ro-pos): from ἀνήρ (anḗr) G435 and ὤψ (ṓps) (the countenance; from ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700); man-faced, i.e. a human being; certain, man
- G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): from the particle αὖ (aû) (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ (aḗr) G109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons; her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ (hautoû) G848.
- G1161 — δέ (dé, deh): a primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.; also, and, but, moreover, now (often unexpressed in English)
- G2486 — ἰχθύς (ichthýs, ikh-thoos'): of uncertain affinity; a fish; fish
- G2934 — κτῆνος (ktēnos, ktay'-nos): from κτάομαι (ktáomai) G2932; property, i.e. (specially) a domestic animal; beast
- G3303 — μέν (mén, men): a primary particle; properly, indicative of affirmation or concession (in fact); usually followed by a contrasted clause with δέ (dé) G1161 (this one, the former, etc.); even, indeed, so, some, truly, verily. Often compounded with other particles in an intensive or asseverative sense.
- G3756 — οὐ (ou, oo): a primary word; the absolute negative (compare μή (mḗ) G3361) adverb; no or not; + long, nay, neither, never, no (X man), none, (can-)not, + nothing, + special, un(-worthy), when, + without, + yet but. See also οὐ μή (ou mḗ) G3364, μῆκος (mēkos) G3372.
- G3956 — πᾶς (pâs, pas): including all the forms of declension; apparently a primary word; all, any, every, the whole; all (manner of, means), alway(-s), any (one), X daily, + ever, every (one, way), as many as, + no(-thing), X thoroughly, whatsoever, whole, whosoever
- G4421 — πτηνόν (ptēnón, ptay-non'): contraction for πετεινόν (peteinón) G4071; a bird; bird
- G4561 — σάρξ (sárx, sarx): probably from the base of σαρόω (saróō) G4563; flesh (as stripped of the skin), i.e. (strictly) the meat of an animal (as food), or (by extension) the body (as opposed to the soul (or spirit), or as the symbol of what is external, or as the means of kindred), or (by implication) human nature (with its frailties (physically or morally) and passions), or (specially), a human being (as such); carnal(-ly, + -ly minded), flesh(-ly)
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom); the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc
