Mark 15:44
| ← Mark 15:43 | Mark 15:44 (KJV) | Mark 15:45 → |
|---|---|---|
Joseph of Arimathaea, an honourable counsellor, which also waited for the kingdom of God, came, and went in boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus.
|
And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he had been any while dead.
|
And when he knew it of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph.

- G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): from the particle αὖ (aû) (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ (aḗr) G109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons; her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ (hautoû) G848.
- G1161 — δέ (dé, deh): a primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.; also, and, but, moreover, now (often unexpressed in English)
- G1487 — εἰ (ei, i): a primary particle of conditionality; if, whether, that, etc.; forasmuch as, if, that, (al-)though, whether. Often used in connection or composition with other particles, especially as in εἴγε (eíge) G1489, εἰ δὲ μή(γε) (ei dè mḗ(ge)) G1490, εἰ καί (ei kaí) G1499, εἰ μή (ei mḗ) G1508, εἰ μή τι (ei mḗ ti) G1509, εἴ περ (eí per) G1512, εἴ πως (eí pōs) G1513, εἴ τις (eí tis) G1536, ἐκ (ek) G1537. See also ἐάν (eán) G1437.
- G1905 — ἐπερωτάω (eperōtáō, ep-er-o-tah'-o): from ἐπί (epí) G1909 and ἐρωτάω (erōtáō) G2065; to ask for, i.e. inquire, seek; ask (after, questions), demand, desire, question
- G2235 — ἤδη (ḗdē, ay'-day): apparently from ἤ (ḗ) G2228 (or possibly ἦ (ē) G2229) and δή (dḗ) G1211; even now; already, (even) now (already), by this time
- G2296 — θαυμάζω (thaumázō, thou-mad'-zo): from θαῦμα (thaûma) G2295; to wonder; by implication, to admire; admire, have in admiration, marvel, wonder

- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
- G2760 — κεντυρίων (kentyríōn, ken-too-ree'-ohn): of Latin origin; a centurion, i.e. captain of one hundred soldiers; centurion
- G3819 — πάλαι (pálai, pal'-ahee): probably another form for πάλιν (pálin) G3825 (through the idea of retrocession); (adverbially) formerly, or (by relatively) sometime since; (elliptically as adjective) ancient; any while, a great while ago, (of) old, in time past
- G4091 — Πιλᾶτος (Pilâtos, pil-at'-os): of Latin origin; close-pressed, i.e. firm; Pilatus, a Roman; Pilate
- G4341 — προσκαλέομαι (proskaléomai, pros-kal-eh'-om-ahee): middle voice from πρός (prós) G4314 and καλέω (kaléō) G2564; to call toward oneself, i.e. summon, invite; call (for, to, unto)
