Acts 6:15

← Acts 6:14 Acts 6:15 (KJV) Acts 7:1 →
For we have heard him say, that this Jesus of Nazareth shall destroy this place, and shall change the customs which Moses delivered us.
And all that sat in the council, looking stedfastly on him, saw his face as it had been the face of an angel.
Then said the high priest, Are these things so?

Strong's References
  • G32 — ἄγγελος (ángelos, ang'-el-os): from ἀγγέλλω (angéllō) (probably derived from ἄγω (ágō) G71; compare ἀγέλη (agélē) G34) (to bring tidings); a messenger; especially an "angel"; by implication, a pastor; angel, messenger
  • G537 — ἅπας (hápas, hap'-as): from Α (A) G1 (as a particle of union) and πᾶς (pâs) G3956; absolutely all or (singular) every one; all (things), every (one), whole
  • G816 — ἀτενίζω (atenízō, at-en-id'-zo): from a compound of Α (A) G1 (as a particle of union) and τείνω (teínō) (to stretch); to gaze intently; behold earnestly (stedfastly), fasten (eyes), look (earnestly, stedfastly, up stedfastly), set eyes
  • G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): from the particle αὖ (aû) (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ (aḗr) G109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons; her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ (hautoû) G848.
  • G1492 — εἴδω (eídō, i'-do): a primary verb; used only in certain past tenses, the others being borrowed from the equivalent ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700 and ὁράω (horáō) G3708; properly, to see (literally or figuratively); by implication, (in the perfect tense only) to know; be aware, behold, X can (+ not tell), consider, (have) know(-ledge), look (on), perceive, see, be sure, tell, understand, wish, wot. Compare ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700.
  • G1519 — εἰς (eis, ice): a primary preposition; to or into (indicating the point reached or entered), of place, time, or (figuratively) purpose (result, etc.); also in adverbial phrases; (abundant-)ly, against, among, as, at, (back-)ward, before, by, concerning, + continual, + far more exceeding, for (intent, purpose), fore, + forth, in (among, at, unto, -so much that, -to), to the intent that, + of one mind, + never, of, (up-)on, + perish, + set at one again, (so) that, therefore(-unto), throughout, til, to (be, the end, -ward), (here-)until(-to), …ward, (where-)fore, with. Often used in composition with the same general import, but only with verbs (etc.) expressing motion (literally or figuratively).
  • G1722 — ἐν (en, en): a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest (intermediate between εἰς (eis) G1519 and ἐκ (ek) G1537); "in," at, (up-)on, by, etc.; about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-)by (+ all means), for (… sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-)in(-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-)on, (open-)ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, (speedi-)ly, X that, X there(-in, -on), through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), under, when, where(-with), while, with(-in). Often used in compounds, with substantially the same import; rarely with verbs of motion, and then not to indicate direction, except (elliptically) by a separate (and different) preposition.
  • G2516 — καθέζομαι (kathézomai, kath-ed'-zom-ahee): from κατά (katá) G2596 and the base of ἑδραῖος (hedraîos) G1476; to sit down; sit
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
  • G4383 — πρόσωπον (prósōpon, pros'-o-pon): from πρός (prós) G4314 and ὤψ (ṓps) (the visage, from ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700); the front (as being towards view), i.e. the countenance, aspect, appearance, surface; by implication, presence, person; (outward) appearance, X before, countenance, face, fashion, (men's) person, presence
  • G4892 — συνέδριον (synédrion, soon-ed'-ree-on): neuter of a presumed derivative of a compound of σύν (sýn) G4862 and the base of ἑδραῖος (hedraîos) G1476; a joint session, i.e. (specially), the Jewish Sanhedrin; by analogy, a subordinate tribunal; council
  • G5616 — ὡσεί (hōseí, ho-si'): from ὡς (hōs) G5613 and εἰ (ei) G1487; as if; about, as (it had been, it were), like (as)
