|---|---|---|
And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.
|
And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

Strong's References
- G906 — βάλλω (bállō, bal'-lo): a primary verb; to throw (in various applications, more or less violent or intense); arise, cast (out), X dung, lay, lie, pour, put (up), send, strike, throw (down), thrust. Compare ῥίπτω (rhíptō) G4496.
- G1417 — δύο (dýo, doo'-o): a primary numeral; "two"; both, twain, two
- G2064 — ἔρχομαι (érchomai, er'-khom-ahee): middle voice of a primary verb (used only in the present and imperfect tenses, the others being supplied by a kindred (middle voice) ἐλεύθομαι (eleúthomai) el-yoo'-thom-ahee, or (active) ἔλθω (élthō) el'-tho, which do not otherwise occur); to come or go (in a great variety of applications, literally and figuratively); accompany, appear, bring, come, enter, fall out, go, grow, X light, X next, pass, resort, be set
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
- G2835 — κοδράντης (kodrántēs, kod-ran'-tace): of Latin origin; a quadrans, i.e. the fourth part of an as; farthing
- G3016 — λεπτόν (leptón, lep-ton'): neuter of a derivative of the same as λεπίς (lepís) G3013; something scaled (light), i.e. a small coin; mite
- G3391 — μία (mía, mee'-ah): irregular feminine of εἷς (heîs) G1520; one or first; a (certain), + agree, first, one, X other
- G3603 — ὅ ἐστι (hó esti, ho es-tee'): from the neuter of ὅς (hós) G3739 and the third person singular present indicative of εἰμί (eimí) G1510; which is; called, which is (make), that is (to say)
- G4434 — πτωχός (ptōchós, pto-khos'): from πτώσσω (ptṓssō) (to crouch); akin to πτοέω (ptoéō) G4422 and the alternate of πίπτω (píptō) G4098); a beggar (as cringing), i.e. pauper (strictly denoting absolute or public mendicancy, although also used in a qualified or relative sense; whereas πένης (pénēs) G3993 properly means only straitened circumstances in private), literally (often as noun) or figuratively (distressed); beggar(-ly), poor
- G5503 — χήρα (chḗra, khay'-rah): feminine of a presumed derivative apparently from the base of χάσμα (chásma) G5490 through the idea of deficiency; a widow (as lacking a husband), literally or figuratively; widow
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G2076 — ἐστί (estí, es-tee'): third person singular present indicative of εἰμί (eimí) G1510; he (she or it) is; also (with neuter plural) they are; are, be(-long), call, X can(-not), come, consisteth, X dure for a while, + follow, X have, (that) is (to say), make, meaneth, X must needs, + profit, + remaineth, + wrestle
- G3739 — ὅς (hós, hos): probably a primary word (or perhaps a form of the article ὁ (ho) G3588); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative) pronoun, who, which, what, that; one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which, who(-m, -se), etc. See also οὗ (hoû) G3757.
