Mark 1:26
| ← Mark 1:25 [words of Jesus] | Mark 1:26 (KJV) | Mark 1:27 → |
|---|---|---|
And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him.
|
And when the unclean spirit had torn him, and cried with a loud voice, he came out of him.
|
And they were all amazed, insomuch that they questioned among themselves, saying, What thing is this? what new doctrine is this? for with authority commandeth he even the unclean spirits, and they do obey him.

Strong's References
- G169 — ἀκάθαρτος (akáthartos, ak-ath'-ar-tos): from Α (A) G1 (as a negative particle) and a presumed derivative of καθαίρω (kathaírō) G2508 (meaning cleansed); impure (ceremonially, morally (lewd) or specially, (demonic)); foul, unclean
- G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): from the particle αὖ (aû) (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ (aḗr) G109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons; her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ (hautoû) G848.
- G1537 — ἐκ (ek, ek): a primary preposition denoting origin (the point whence action or motion proceeds), from, out (of place, time, or cause; literal or figurative; direct or remote); after, among, X are, at, betwixt(-yond), by (the means of), exceedingly, (+ abundantly above), for(- th), from (among, forth, up), + grudgingly, + heartily, X heavenly, X hereby, + very highly, in, …ly, (because, by reason) of, off (from), on, out among (from, of), over, since, X thenceforth, through, X unto, X vehemently, with(-out). Often used in composition, with the same general import; often of completion.
- G1831 — ἐξέρχομαι (exérchomai, ex-er'-khom-ahee): from ἐκ (ek) G1537 and ἔρχομαι (érchomai) G2064; to issue (literally or figuratively); come (forth, out), depart (out of), escape, get out, go (abroad, away, forth, out, thence), proceed (forth), spread abroad
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
- G2896 — κράζω (krázō, krad'-zo): a primary verb; properly, to "croak" (as a raven) or scream, i.e. (genitive case) to call aloud (shriek, exclaim, intreat); cry (out)
- G3173 — μέγας (mégas, meg'-as): (including the prolonged forms, feminine μεγάλη (megálē), plural μεγάλοι (megáloi), etc.; compare also μέγιστος (mégistos) G3176, μείζων (meízōn) G3187); big (literally or figuratively, in a very wide application); (+ fear) exceedingly, great(-est), high, large, loud, mighty, + (be) sore (afraid), strong, X to years
- G4151 — πνεῦμα (pneûma, pnyoo'-mah): from πνέω (pnéō) G4154; a current of air, i.e. breath (blast) or a breeze; by analogy or figuratively, a spirit, i.e. (human) the rational soul, (by implication) vital principle, mental disposition, etc., or (superhuman) an angel, demon, or (divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Spirit; ghost, life, spirit(-ual, -ually), mind. Compare ψυχή (psychḗ) G5590.
- G4682 — σπαράσσω (sparássō, spar-as'-so): prolongation from σπαίρω (spaírō) (to grasp; apparently strengthened from σπάω (spáō) G4685 through the idea of spasmodic contraction); to mangle, i.e. convluse with epilepsy; rend, tear
- G5456 — φωνή (phōnḗ, fo-nay'): probably akin to φαίνω (phaínō) G5316 through the idea of disclosure; a tone (articulate, bestial or artificial); by implication, an address (for any purpose), saying or language; noise, sound, voice
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom); the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc
