Luke 5:22

← Luke 5:21 Luke 5:22 (KJV) [words of Jesus] Luke 5:23 [words of Jesus] →
And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?
But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?
Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?

  • G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): from the particle αὖ (aû) (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ (aḗr) G109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons; her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ (hautoû) G848.
  • G1161 — δέ (dé, deh): a primary particle (adversative or continuative); but, and, etc.; also, and, but, moreover, now (often unexpressed in English)
  • G1260 — διαλογίζομαι (dialogízomai, dee-al-og-id'-zom-ahee): from διά (diá) G1223 and λογίζομαι (logízomai) G3049; to reckon thoroughly, i.e. (genitive case) to deliberate (by reflection or discussion); cast in mind, consider, dispute, muse, reason, think
  • G1261 — διαλογισμός (dialogismós, dee-al-og-is-mos'): from διαλογίζομαι (dialogízomai) G1260; discussion, i.e. (internal) consideration (by implication, purpose), or (external) debate; dispute, doubtful(-ing), imagination, reasoning, thought
  • G1722 — ἐν (en, en): a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest (intermediate between εἰς (eis) G1519 and ἐκ (ek) G1537); "in," at, (up-)on, by, etc.; about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-)by (+ all means), for (… sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-)in(-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-)on, (open-)ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, (speedi-)ly, X that, X there(-in, -on), through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), under, when, where(-with), while, with(-in). Often used in compounds, with substantially the same import; rarely with verbs of motion, and then not to indicate direction, except (elliptically) by a separate (and different) preposition.
  • G1921 — ἐπιγινώσκω (epiginṓskō, ep-ig-in-oce'-ko): from ἐπί (epí) G1909 and γινώσκω (ginṓskō) G1097; to know upon some mark, i.e. recognize; by implication, to become fully acquainted with, to acknowledge; (ac-, have, take)know(-ledge, well), perceive
  • G2036 — ἔπω (épō, ep'-o): a primary verb (used only in the definite past tense, the others being borrowed from ἐρέω (eréō) G2046, ῥέω (rhéō) G4483, and φημί (phēmí) G5346); to speak or say (by word or writing); answer, bid, bring word, call, command, grant, say (on), speak, tell. Compare λέγω (légō) G3004.
  • G2424 — Ἰησοῦς (Iēsoûs, ee-ay-sooce'): of Hebrew origin (H3091); Jesus (i.e. Jehoshua), the name of our Lord and two (three) other Israelites; Jesus
