Acts 27:9
| ← Acts 27:8 | Acts 27:9 (KJV) | Acts 27:10 → |
|---|---|---|
And, hardly passing it, came unto a place which is called The fair havens; nigh whereunto was the city of Lasea.
|
Now when much time was spent, and when sailing was now dangerous, because the fast was now already past, Paul admonished them,
|
And said unto them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage will be with hurt and much damage, not only of the lading and ship, but also of our lives.

In composition it retains the same general importance.
- G1230 — διαγίνομαι (diagínomai, dee-ag-in'-om-ahee): from διά (diá) G1223 and γίνομαι (gínomai) G1096; to elapse meanwhile; X after, be past, be spent

- G2235 — ἤδη (ḗdē, ay'-day): apparently from ἤ (ḗ) G2228 (or possibly ἦ (ē) G2229) and δή (dḗ) G1211; even now; already, (even) now (already), by this time
- G2425 — ἱκανός (hikanós, hik-an-os'): from ἵκω (híkō) (ἱκάνω (hikánō) or ἱκνέομαι (hiknéomai), akin to ἥκω (hḗkō) G2240) (to arrive); competent (as if coming in season), i.e. ample (in amount) or fit (in character); able, + content, enough, good, great, large, long (while), many, meet, much, security, sore, sufficient, worthy
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
- G3521 — νηστεία (nēsteía, nace-ti'-ah): from νηστεύω (nēsteúō) G3522; abstinence (from lack of food, or voluntary and religious); specially, the fast of the Day of Atonement; fast(-ing)
- G3867 — παραινέω (parainéō, par-ahee-neh'-o): from παρά (pará) G3844 and αἰνέω (ainéō) G134; to mispraise, i.e. recommend or advise (a different course); admonish, exhort

- G5550 — χρόνος (chrónos, khron'-os): of uncertain derivation; a space of time (in general, and thus properly distinguished from καιρός (kairós) G2540, which designates a fixed or special occasion; and from αἰών (aiṓn) G165, which denotes a particular period) or interval; by extension, an individual opportunity; by implication, delay; + years old, season, space, (X often-)time(-s), (a) while
- G5607 — ὤν (ṓn, oan): present participle of εἰμί (eimí) G1510; being; be, come, have
