Mark 14:40

← Mark 14:39 Mark 14:40 (KJV) Mark 14:41 [words of Jesus] →
And again he went away, and prayed, and spake the same words.
And when he returned, he found them asleep again, (for their eyes were heavy,) neither wist they what to answer him.
And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on now, and take your rest: it is enough, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

Strong's References
  • G611 — ἀποκρίνομαι (apokrínomai, ap-ok-ree'-nom-ahee): from ἀπό (apó) G575 and κρίνω (krínō); to conclude for oneself, i.e. (by implication) to respond; by Hebraism (compare H6030) to begin to speak (where an address is expected); answer
  • G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): from the particle αὖ (aû) (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ (aḗr) G109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons; her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ (hautoû) G848.
  • G916 — βαρέω (baréō, bar-eh'-o): from βαρύς (barýs) G926; to weigh down (figuratively); burden, charge, heavy, press
  • G1063 — γάρ (gár, gar): a primary particle; properly, assigning a reason (used in argument, explanation or intensification; often with other particles); and, as, because (that), but, even, for, indeed, no doubt, seeing, then, therefore, verily, what, why, yet
  • G1492 — εἴδω (eídō, i'-do): a primary verb; used only in certain past tenses, the others being borrowed from the equivalent ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700 and ὁράω (horáō) G3708; properly, to see (literally or figuratively); by implication, (in the perfect tense only) to know; be aware, behold, X can (+ not tell), consider, (have) know(-ledge), look (on), perceive, see, be sure, tell, understand, wish, wot. Compare ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700.
  • G2147 — εὑρίσκω (heurískō, hyoo-ris'-ko): a prolonged form of a primary εὕρω (heúrō) hyoo'-ro, which (together with another cognate form) εὑρέω (heuréō) hyoo-reh'-o is used for it in all the tenses except the present and imperfect; to find (literally or figuratively); find, get, obtain, perceive, see
  • G2258 — ἦν (ēn, ane): imperfect of εἰμί (eimí) G1510; I (thou, etc.) was (wast or were); + agree, be, X have (+ charge of), hold, use, was(-t), were
  • G2518 — καθεύδω (katheúdō, kath-yoo'-do): from κατά (katá) G2596 and εὕδω (heúdō) (to sleep); to lie down to rest, i.e. (by implication) to fall asleep (literally or figuratively); (be a-)sleep
  • G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
  • G3756 — οὐ (ou, oo): a primary word; the absolute negative (compare μή (mḗ) G3361) adverb; no or not; + long, nay, neither, never, no (X man), none, (can-)not, + nothing, + special, un(-worthy), when, + without, + yet but. See also οὐ μή (ou mḗ) G3364, μῆκος (mēkos) G3372.
  • G3788 — ὀφθαλμός (ophthalmós, of-thal-mos'): from ὀπτάνομαι (optánomai) G3700; the eye (literally or figuratively); by implication, vision; figuratively, envy (from the jealous side-glance); eye, sight
  • G3825 — πάλιν (pálin, pal'-in): probably from the same as πάλη (pálē) G3823 (through the idea of oscillatory repetition); (adverbially) anew, i.e. (of place) back, (of time) once more, or (conjunctionally) furthermore or on the other hand; again
  • G5101 — τίς (tís, tis): probably emphatic of τὶς (tìs) G5100; an interrogative pronoun, who, which or what (in direct or indirect questions); every man, how (much), + no(-ne, thing), what (manner, thing), where (-by, -fore, -of, -unto, - with, -withal), whether, which, who(-m, -se), why
  • G5290 — ὑποστρέφω (hypostréphō, hoop-os-tref'-o): from ὑπό (hypó) G5259 and στρέφω (stréphō) G4762; to turn under (behind), i.e. to return (literally or figuratively); come again, return (again, back again), turn back (again)
