Isaiah 50:5
| ← Isaiah 50:4 | Isaiah 50:5 (KJV) | Isaiah 50:6 → |
|---|---|---|
The Lord GOD hath given me the tongue of the learned, that I should know how to speak a word in season to him that is weary: he wakeneth morning by morning, he wakeneth mine ear to hear as the learned.
|
The Lord GOD hath opened mine ear, and I was not rebellious, neither turned away back.
|
I gave my back to the smiters, and my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair: I hid not my face from shame and spitting.

- H241 — אֹזֶן (ʼôzen, o'-zen): from אָזַן (ʼâzan) H238; broadness. i.e. (concrete) the ear (from its form in man); [phrase] advertise, audience, [phrase] displease, ear, hearing, [phrase] show.

- H5472 — סוּג (çûwg, soog): a primitive root; properly, to flinch, i.e. (by implication) to go back, literally (to retreat) or figuratively (to apostatize); backslider, drive, go back, turn (away, back).
- H6605 — פָּתַח (pâthach, paw-thakh'): a primitive root; to open wide (literally or figuratively); specifically, to loosen, begin, plough, carve; appear, break forth, draw (out), let go free, (en-) grave(-n), loose (self), (be, be set) open(-ing), put off, ungird, unstop, have vent.
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Hebrew (Westminster Leningrad Codex) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
