Hebrews 8:12
| ← Hebrews 8:11 | Hebrews 8:12 (KJV) | Hebrews 8:13 → |
|---|---|---|
And they shall not teach every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the Lord: for all shall know me, from the least to the greatest.
|
For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.
|
In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away.

Strong's References
- G93 — ἀδικία (adikía, ad-ee-kee'-ah): from ἄδικος (ádikos) G94; (legal) injustice (properly, the quality, by implication, the act); morally, wrongfulness (of character, life or act); iniquity, unjust, unrighteousness, wrong
- G266 — ἁμαρτία (hamartía, ham-ar-tee'-ah): from ἁμαρτάνω (hamartánō) G264; a sin (properly abstract); offence, sin(-ful)
- G458 — ἀνομία (anomía, an-om-ee'-ah): from ἄνομος (ánomos) G459; illegality, i.e. violation of law or (genitive case) wickedness; iniquity, X transgress(-ion of) the law, unrighteousness
- G846 — αὐτός (autós, ow-tos'): from the particle αὖ (aû) (perhaps akin to the base of ἀήρ (aḗr) G109 through the idea of a baffling wind) (backward); the reflexive pronoun self, used (alone or in the comparative ἑαυτοῦ (heautoû) G1438) of the third person , and (with the proper personal pronoun) of the other persons; her, it(-self), one, the other, (mine) own, said, (self-), the) same, ((him-, my-, thy- )self, (your-)selves, she, that, their(-s), them(-selves), there(-at, - by, -in, -into, -of, -on, -with), they, (these) things, this (man), those, together, very, which. Compare αὑτοῦ (hautoû) G848.
- G2071 — ἔσομαι (ésomai, es'-om-ahee): future of εἰμί (eimí) G1510; will be; shall (should) be (have), (shall) come (to pass), X may have, X fall, what would follow, X live long, X sojourn
- G2089 — ἔτι (éti, et'-ee): perhaps akin to ἔτος (étos) G2094; "yet," still (of time or degree); after that, also, ever, (any) further, (t-)henceforth (more), hereafter, (any) longer, (any) more(-one), now, still, yet
- G2436 — ἵλεως (híleōs, hil'-eh-oce): perhaps from the alternate form of αἱρέομαι (hairéomai) G138; cheerful (as attractive), i.e. propitious; adverbially (by Hebraism) God be gracious!, i.e. (in averting some calamity) far be it; be it far, merciful
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
- G3364 — οὐ μή (ou mḗ, oo may): i.e. οὐ (ou) G3756 and μή (mḗ) G3361; a double negative strengthening the denial; not at all; any more, at all, by any (no) means, neither, never, no (at all), in no case (wise), nor ever, not (at all, in any wise). Compare μὴ οὐκ (mḕ ouk) G3378.
- G3415 — μνάομαι (mnáomai, mnah'-om-ahee): middle voice of a derivative of μένω (ménō) G3306 or perhaps of the base of μασσάομαι (massáomai) G3145 (through the idea of fixture in the mind or of mental grasp); to bear in mind, i.e. recollect; by implication, to reward or punish; be mindful, remember, come (have) in remembrance. Compare μιμνήσκω (mimnḗskō) G3403.
- G3754 — ὅτι (hóti, hot'-ee): neuter of ὅστις (hóstis) G3748 as conjunction; demonstrative, that (sometimes redundant); causative, because; as concerning that, as though, because (that), for (that), how (that), (in) that, though, why
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G3361 — μή (mḗ, may): a primary particle of qualified negation (whereas οὐ (ou) G3756 expresses an absolute denial); (adverb) not, (conjunction) lest; also (as an interrogative implying a negative answer (whereas οὐ (ou) G3756 expects an affirmative one)) whether; any but (that), X forbear, + God forbid, + lack, lest, neither, never, no (X wise in), none, nor, (can-)not, nothing, that not, un(-taken), without. Often used in compounds in substantially the same relations.
