|---|---|---|
And if Christ be not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins.

Then they also which are fallen asleep in Christ are perished.

If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men most miserable.

Strong's References
- G622 — ἀπόλλυμι (apóllymi, ap-ol'-loo-mee): from ἀπό (apó) G575 and the base of ὄλεθρος (ólethros) G3639; to destroy fully (reflexively, to perish, or lose), literally or figuratively; destroy, die, lose, mar, perish
- G686 — ἄρα (ára, ar'-ah): probably from αἴρω (aírō) G142 (through the idea of drawing a conclusion); a particle denoting an inference more or less decisive (as follows); haply, (what) manner (of man), no doubt, perhaps, so be, then, therefore, truly, wherefore. Often used in connection with other particles, especially γέ (gé) G1065 or οὖν (oûn) G3767 (after) or εἰ (ei) G1487 (before). Compare also ἆρα (âra) G687.
- G1722 — ἐν (en, en): a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest (intermediate between εἰς (eis) G1519 and ἐκ (ek) G1537); "in," at, (up-)on, by, etc.; about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-)by (+ all means), for (… sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-)in(-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-)on, (open-)ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, (speedi-)ly, X that, X there(-in, -on), through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), under, when, where(-with), while, with(-in). Often used in compounds, with substantially the same import; rarely with verbs of motion, and then not to indicate direction, except (elliptically) by a separate (and different) preposition.
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
- G2837 — κοιμάω (koimáō, koy-mah'-o): from κεῖμαι (keîmai) G2749; to put to sleep, i.e. (passively or reflexively) to slumber; figuratively, to decease; (be a-, fall a-, fall on) sleep, be dead
- G5547 — Χριστός (Christós, khris-tos'): from χρίω (chríō) G5548; anointed, i.e. the Messiah, an epithet of Jesus; Christ
The following Strong's numbers are referenced in the Greek (Textus Receptus, Scrivener 1894) text but were not explicitly tagged in the KJV source:
- G3588 — ὁ (ho, ho): the definite article; the (sometimes to be supplied, at others omitted, in English idiom); the, this, that, one, he, she, it, etc
