|---|---|---|
And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God unto our fathers:
|
Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.
|
Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

- G67 — Ἀγρίππας (Agríppas, ag-rip'-pas): apparently from ἄγριος (ágrios) G66 and ἵππος (híppos) G2462; wild-horse tamer; Agrippas, one of the Herods; Agrippa
- G935 — βασιλεύς (basileús, bas-il-yooce'): probably from βάσις (básis) G939 (through the notion of a foundation of power); a sovereign (abstractly, relatively, or figuratively); king
- G1429 — δωδεκάφυλον (dōdekáphylon, do-dek-af'-oo-lon): from δώδεκα (dṓdeka) G1427 and φυλή (phylḗ) G5443; the commonwealth of Israel; twelve tribes
- G1458 — ἐγκαλέω (enkaléō, eng-kal-eh'-o): from ἐν (en) G1722 and καλέω (kaléō) G2564; to call in (as a debt or demand), i.e. bring to account (charge, criminate, etc.); accuse, call in question, implead, lay to the charge
- G1519 — εἰς (eis, ice): a primary preposition; to or into (indicating the point reached or entered), of place, time, or (figuratively) purpose (result, etc.); also in adverbial phrases; (abundant-)ly, against, among, as, at, (back-)ward, before, by, concerning, + continual, + far more exceeding, for (intent, purpose), fore, + forth, in (among, at, unto, -so much that, -to), to the intent that, + of one mind, + never, of, (up-)on, + perish, + set at one again, (so) that, therefore(-unto), throughout, til, to (be, the end, -ward), (here-)until(-to), …ward, (where-)fore, with. Often used in composition with the same general import, but only with verbs (etc.) expressing motion (literally or figuratively).
- G1616 — ἐκτένεια (ekténeia, ek-ten'-i-ah): from ἐκτενής (ektenḗs) G1618; intentness; X instantly
- G1679 — ἐλπίζω (elpízō, el-pid'-zo): from ἐλπίς (elpís) G1680; to expect or confide; (have, thing) hope(-d) (for), trust
- G1680 — ἐλπίς (elpís, el-pece'): from a primary ἔλπω (élpō) (to anticipate, usually with pleasure); expectation (abstractly or concretely) or confidence; faith, hope
- G1722 — ἐν (en, en): a primary preposition denoting (fixed) position (in place, time or state), and (by implication) instrumentality (medially or constructively), i.e. a relation of rest (intermediate between εἰς (eis) G1519 and ἐκ (ek) G1537); "in," at, (up-)on, by, etc.; about, after, against, + almost, X altogether, among, X as, at, before, between, (here-)by (+ all means), for (… sake of), + give self wholly to, (here-)in(-to, -wardly), X mightily, (because) of, (up-)on, (open-)ly, X outwardly, one, X quickly, X shortly, (speedi-)ly, X that, X there(-in, -on), through(-out), (un-)to(-ward), under, when, where(-with), while, with(-in). Often used in compounds, with substantially the same import; rarely with verbs of motion, and then not to indicate direction, except (elliptically) by a separate (and different) preposition.
- G2250 — ἡμέρα (hēméra, hay-mer'-ah): feminine (with ὥρα (hṓra) G5610 implied) of a derivative of ἧμαι (hēmai) (to sit; akin to the base of ἑδραῖος (hedraîos) G1476) meaning tame, i.e. gentle; day, i.e. (literally) the time space between dawn and dark, or the whole 24 hours (but several days were usually reckoned by the Jews as inclusive of the parts of both extremes); figuratively, a period (always defined more or less clearly by the context); age, + alway, (mid-)day (by day, (-ly)), + for ever, judgment, (day) time, while, years
- G2257 — ἡμῶν (hēmōn, hay-mone'): genitive case plural of ἐγώ (egṓ) G1473; of (or from) us; our (company), us, we
- G2453 — Ἰουδαῖος (Ioudaîos, ee-oo-dah'-yos): from Ἰουδά (Ioudá) G2448 (in the sense of Ἰούδας (Ioúdas) G2455 as a country); Judæan, i.e. belonging to Jehudah; Jew(-ess), of Judæa
- G2532 — καί (kaí, kahee): apparently, a primary particle, having a copulative and sometimes also a cumulative force; and, also, even, so then, too, etc.; often used in connection (or composition) with other particles or small words; and, also, both, but, even, for, if, or, so, that, then, therefore, when, yet
- G2658 — καταντάω (katantáō, kat-an-tah'-o): from κατά (katá) G2596 and a derivative of ἀντί (antí) G473; to meet against, i.e. arrive at (literally or figuratively); attain, come
- G3000 — λατρεύω (latreúō, lat-ryoo'-o): from λάτρις (látris) (a hired menial); to minister (to God), i.e. render religious homage; serve, do the service, worship(-per)
- G3571 — νύξ (nýx, noox): a primary word; "night" (literally or figuratively); (mid-)night
- G3739 — ὅς (hós, hos): probably a primary word (or perhaps a form of the article ὁ (ho) G3588); the relatively (sometimes demonstrative) pronoun, who, which, what, that; one, (an-, the) other, some, that, what, which, who(-m, -se), etc. See also οὗ (hoû) G3757.
- G4012 — περί (perí, per-ee'): from the base of πέραν (péran) G4008; properly, through (all over), i.e. around; figuratively with respect to; used in various applications, of place, cause or time (with the genitive case denoting the subject or occasion or superlative point; with the accusative case the locality, circuit, matter, circumstance or general period); (there-)about, above, against, at, on behalf of, X and his company, which concern, (as) concerning, for, X how it will go with, ((there-, where-)) of, on, over, pertaining (to), for sake, X (e-)state, (as) touching, (where-)by (in), with. In comparative, it retains substantially the same meaning of circuit (around), excess (beyond), or completeness (through).
- G5259 — ὑπό (hypó, hoop-o'): a primary preposition; under, i.e. (with the genitive case) of place (beneath), or with verbs (the agency or means, through); (with the accusative case) of place (whither (underneath) or where (below) or time (when (at))); among, by, from, in, of, under, with. In the comparative, it retains the same general applications, especially of inferior position or condition, and specially, covertly or moderately.
